Frequently Asked Questions
About Doxiepoo Puppies
What's it like owning a Doxiepoo?
Because of their mixed Dachshund-Poodle genes, the Doxiepoo’s personality varies as much as the weather. Some are nice, warm, and carefree, while others are cooler, more serious, and stubborn. Overall, though, you can count on Doxiepoos to be cute little pups that love being your companion no matter what. Full-grown, they typically weigh 5-30 pounds and stand 8-23 inches tall.
Are Doxiepoos good family dogs?
Doxiepoos are generally not the best fit for families with young kids. Some will get along well with children, dogs, and cats, while others may be loud and snappy toward them. It’s best to introduce these pups to your kids and other animals first to see if they can co-exist. They're very vocal and bark quite a lot.
How active are Doxiepoos on a daily basis?
Doxiepoos have normal energy levels and don’t require as much activity as their Poodle parents. They’re content with a walk or playtime in the yard each day. Doxiepoos are adaptable, so if you prefer to have a lazy day on the couch, they won’t complain about missing a day or two of walking. Overall, their exercise needs are high.
Do Doxiepoos need professional grooming?
The Doxiepoo’s coat also will depend on its genes. Those with Poodle coats will have soft, curly fur that needs to be brushed daily and clipped every month or two. Those with Dachshund coats will have wavy hair that doesn’t require as much grooming but still needs a thorough brushing regularly. Grooming-wise, this breed is moderate.
Where do Doxiepoos do best — city or country?
Doxiepoos are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. Although their personalities vary, Doxiepoos will always be on the smaller side and do well in an apartment or condo setting. They are fairly easy to train.
Puppy Buyer's FAQ
See Full Guide Here
Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods
Pay with a credit card or another traceable method that offers buyer protection. Avoid wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards, which are difficult to recover.
Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.
Know What to Look For
A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
Know Your State's Laws
Some states have lemon laws; others rely on contract law. Know your rights before you buy.
