You may not be able to pronounce Xoloitzcuintli, but these dogs will love you no matter what you call them. Xolos (or Mexican Hairless Dogs) are a sweet, people-loving breed. Full-grown, they typically weigh 10-55 pounds and stand 10-23 inches tall.

Xoloitzcuintlis are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. Xolos are protective of their turf and aloof toward strangers, but they’re wonderful with kids. These pups usually get along well with other pets but may be aggressive toward dogs of the same sex. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.

Young Xolos need a lot of exercise and attention. They begin to calm down as they mature and will be content to hang at home after their daily walk. They like to go with their owner as much as possible, so if you’re headed out for an activity, the Xolo will be happy to join in. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.

The Xoloitzcuintli is known for their hairless body, but there is a short-haired variety too, which has sleek, straight hair. Their fur can be any color and will hardly shed. Because of their unique looks, the hairless Xolo needs special care. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance. Xoloitzcuintlis are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.

Xoloitzcuintlis are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They’re well-suited for apartment life, but they love having a yard to play in. Hairless Xolos are sensitive to sun and cold weather, though, so they should be kept as indoor dogs and given sunscreen prior to long periods outside. They are fairly easy to train.

The little Yorkshire Terrier thinks they're Great Danes, and like most terriers, are bold, brave, and independent. They are very intelligent and  develop deep bonds with their owners. Full-grown, they typically weigh 4-7 pounds and stand 8-9 inches tall.

Yorkshire Terriers are generally excellent with children of all ages. Because of their diminutive stature, Yorkies are well-suited to apartment life, but households with young children are not recommended unless carefully supervised. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.

The Yorkshire Terrier can have most of their exercise needs met through indoor play, but they prefer a daily walk or romp in a fenced-in yard.
