Kay-Kay

Kay is a 6yr old red tri standard size Aussie reg. with AKC. Kay would prefer a quiet home with a single or older couple or a family with older children. Kay came to us about 1yr ago and we evaluated her to possibly be added to our program and she didnt make the cut. Kay is health tested clear on the Australian Shepherd genetic health testing panel. She is a very sweet dog who will smile and follow you anywhere.. HOWEVER.. Kay is extremely fearful of noises & sudden movements. Running loud children even if not directly by her make her extremely nervous and she just wants to hide. She will and has slipped out of leashes & harness when she goes into flight mode for this reason I will require she go to a home with a fenced yard and absolutely no children under 12. My home is just way too over stimulating for her and like mentioned she has been with us for a little over a year now with only small improvement. I do live a very busy life with working full time, four children two of which being under three years, my pack of dogs in my breeding program, errands & appointments, sporting events for kids, dog shows & dog training, and the occasional social. A dog like Kay cant get the individualized time and training she needs here despite my best efforts. Maybe someone with that time can turn her around faster. I may be looking for a needle in a haystack looking for this perfect home for Kay but I know its out there somewhere and until I find it she will live with us and I'll try my best to keep working with her. Kay is crate trained has never went to the bathroom in my house or in her crate, leash trained but will try to bolt if startled, takes treats nice non food aggressive with dogs or people and is very food motivated, great with other dogs of both genders, will chase the barn cats in fun but is easily recalled back to me and super sweet once you gain her trust (she does trust me). No I do not think she was mistreated or abused previously I believe she was just in a pack of Dogs in her previous home and un socialized for a long time and shes definitely a bottom of the rank dog in a pack setting and I think she got away with just watching the human interactions from the background. For this reason I'd like to see her go to a home with at least one confident well behaved dog. Kay is a challenging dog because of her fears and extreme shyness and will require a lot of patience and time for 1:1 training. If for whatever reason she doesnt fit in or her new home feels like they jumped in over their heads with her I will ABSOLUTELY take her back and keep searching! Kay will be going to get spayed after the holidays Have a current HW test & prevention Shots UTD and a clean bill of health before leaving us but I'm going to start the search. *Cause of Kays special home requirements and her being a flight risk I prefer to do a meet & greet home visit and bring her to u!
