My two beautiful longhairs, Chrissy and Finn, have a litter due around Dec. 27. Mom is a clear cream 10 lbs and dad is a shaded cream, 11 lbs. A $100 deposit will put you on the wait list for a pup. You will be notified when they are born and if the pup you want is available, an additional $200 deposit will hold the pup of your choice until 8 to 9 weeks old. applied to total price of $1000 males and $1500 females as pets only with limited AKC. Full AKC may be available to an approved breeder or show home for an additional $500. Sire, Finn, is a beautiful boy and will be going into the show ring with his co-owner after the first of the year. I expect these pups to be excellent quality. Families with smaller children may want to choose a different breed, as Dachshunds can be a little too feisty and aggressive toward kids, especially if they don’t understand how to treat a dog with respect. They're very vocal and bark quite a lot.
How do I keep a Dachshund physically active?
Dachshunds need exercise a few times a day. They’ll enjoy a brisk walk, and their little legs can actually carry them for quite a distance if you’ve got time for a longer stroll. In general, plan on allotting about 30 minutes of exercise per day. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
Do Dachshunds shed a lot?
Dachshunds actually come in three different coat types, wire-haired, long-haired, and smooth. For smooth-haired and long-haired Dachshunds, a weekly brushing will help clean their hair and cut back on shedding. For wire-haired Dachshunds, you’ll need to pluck or strip their hair about twice a year and trim their excess hair around their eyebrows and paws. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.

Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
