Mattis

Mattis is a young dog at heart despite being about 4 years old. He is a great watchdog and is good with other dogs and children. He is kept indoors (mostly due to the heat in our area). He is housebroken, crate trained and will go to his crate on his own. He is a high energy dog and would probably do great with tracking if the time were put in with him. He probably wouldn't do well as a sport dog in the protection area. He doesnt play tug-of-war or use bite toys. He does have a high drive and patrol the backyard when he is outside. He would be a great running partner. We have had Mattis for a year and a half. My daughter brought him home after she witnessed him get thrown from a moving vehicle on her way to school. He is not chipped. We love him dearly but we have a special needs child who has developed allergies and additonal medications for that is not an option. He would be a fantastic companion for a family with older children or someone wanting a companion and watch dog. He isn't a jumper and on sunny days enjoys laying in the sun on the back porch. He likes to lay at your feet (and hug them) and occasionally will hop up on the couch and enjoy watching TV with us. He would be great for someone wanting a young dog but wants to skip the high demand puppy stage. He is the epitome of a loving and loyal GSD.
