Don’t let their regal history or flowing coat and fancy feathered tail fool you, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are are as friendly and loving as they come! This cheerful toy breed is surprisingly uncomplicated and happiest as an indoor lapdog. Full-grown, they typically weigh 13-18 pounds and stand 12-13 inches tall.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are generally excellent with children of all ages. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels get along great with children (although older children are preferable), other dogs, and any household pets. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel are pretty basic. They love walks (leashed or watched closely around roads as they tend to give chase to small animals) but are quite content with plenty of indoor play, easily adjusting to the activity level of your family. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a good fit for apartment life or a home in the country. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has long, soft, silky hair with a light wave to it. There are four color types which were formerly considered separate breeds: tricolor (‘Prince Charles’), red and white (‘Blenheim’), black and tan (‘King Charles’), and red (‘Ruby’). The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an average shedder, and they don’t need to be bathed often if you keep them as indoor dogs, which they prefer, but frequent brushing is a good idea. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.

The Cavachon originated in the United States due to an accidental mating between a champion Cavalier King Charles Spaniel a Bichon Frise in 1998. The mating resulted in what became known as a Cavachon. Full-grown, they typically weigh 15-35 pounds and stand 12-16 inches tall.

Cavachons are generally excellent with children of all ages. This breed will do extremely well with children of all ages. The Cavachon is known to be very tolerable of play with small children. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.

The Cavachon is not an extremely high energy dog. They are quite active indoors and will enjoy playing with the family all day. They will still require a daily walk to expel any excess energy. Overall, their exercise needs are high.

The coat on a Cavachon is usually fluffy, quite thick and curly. The Cavachon's coat is very full and can grow to a length of 3-5 inches long. This breed sheds minimally and will be a great selection for those with allergy issues. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance. Cavachons are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
