Sasuke

Sasuke (Japanese name) is a handsome, intelligent, and affectionate male Doberman with a deeply personal story. He was born the runt of his litter, and on top of that, he nearly died from an infection at 4weeks of age. He spent several weeks healing under the care of his devoted breeder before joining our family. His resilience and loving spirit have been evident ever since. He's protective in all the best Doberman ways. His bark alone (in addition to his aesthetic) is a strong deterrent to anybody who would seek to harm. However, Sasuke is not aggressive. I always joke with people on the street that he's so friendly he'd lead a night intruder to my bedroom. He's emotionally intelligent, highly aware of human emotions, and deeply bonded primarily to the women in our family, especially my mom and mother-in-law, who bring him new toys and treats on a weekly basis. He once quietly curled up next to my wife during a difficult night, gently offering comfort. Sasuke is simply a sensitive, loving companion. He is playful (not in a chaotic way, though), well-trained, and especially enjoys walks and active games like frisbee and fetch. His lifestyle has offered him wide open spaces, and he would do best in a home with significant land or consistent access to large outdoor areas where he can run and explore. Sasuke is familiar with a wide range of commands and carries himself with both energy and composure. He's remarkably smart, as the breed is known for. He'll even bring you his bowl and toss it at your feet when he's ready for a refill (as you can see in the pictures). Personality & Needs: -Very affectionate -Strong preference for human interaction (will likely benefit from a well-matched dog companion) -Playful but controlled energy -Extremely intelligent (both mentally and emotionally) -Requires daily physical activity and mental stimulation -Protective yet gentle. A Few Honest Quirks: -He craves attention and will whine when his attention tank isn't filled -When I'm traveling for work, according to my wife, he always goes into a depressive slump due to separation anxiety. He eats and drinks very little and sleeps many hours of the day until I return. -We tried to avoid it, but he is accustomed to lounging and sleeping on our couches. He refuses to sleep on a dog bed. Our neighbor, who is a retired dog trainer, couldn't even manage to help us with this. We're looking for someone who will provide sincere love, exercise, and care for Sasuke's next chapter in life. We're sad to let him go, but hope he finds a wonderful home.
