This is Scottie! He is a Havamalt hybrid. Mom is Havanese and weighs 7 lbs and Dad is Maltese and weighs 6 lbs.
He will be ready to go to his new home when he is 10-12 weeks old. May 4th-May 18th, depending on how weaning goes.
The Havamalt hybrid is a smart, easy going breed. Easy to train and they love to learn.
We have had the pleasure of raising toy breed puppies for almost 40 years. We are located in southern Colorado, We welcome visitors by appointment. I am happy to "show" you the puppies, however I do not allow any handling of my puppies until they are over 8 weeks old. Visits are also dependent on weather. I show the puppies and visit with folks outdoors. Safer for all my dogs and puppies. I can send videos through text/messenger. I am happy to do video chat through facebook.
Puppies go home with current vaccinations and microchipped, with free lifetime registration. A goodie bag with their current food. A baby blanket Mom and siblings played with for his familiar scent to help lessen the stress of moving to a new home. A couple of his favorite toys. A folder with his detailed vaccination record and lots of information on feeding, training and care of a Toy breed puppy. He will be started on piddle pad training.
2 year health guarantee and lifetime support.
Adoption contract required.
It is important to know if considering adopting a toy size puppy they can be high maintenance the first few months, due to being prone to hypoglycemia. My puppies are weaned carefully to ensure no lapse in eating. They are used to getting Nutrical. I continue giving it to them several times a day. I send home a tube so the new parents can continue this while the puppy settles into their new home. This is like an "insurance policy" to prevent Hypoglycemia if the puppy does not eat well the first couple days. I feed several small meals throughout the day instead of one or two big meals. Especially until they are a few months older.

About Havamalt Puppies
About Havamalt Puppies
What makes Havamalts special?
The Havamalt is a designer hybrid breed consisting of Havanese and Maltese. The breed originated in recent years in the United States. The Havamalt was originally developed as a way to amplify only the best qualities of both breeds involved. It is not uncommon for puppies from the same litter to look quite different, as often the puppies will take on physical characteristics resembling more closely one parent or the other. As a designer breed, information regarding the Havamalt is scarce. If you have additional questions, consider contacting a local Havamalt breeder or one of the Havamalt accepting registries. The Havamalt can currently be registered with the American Canine Hybrid Club, Designer Dogs Kennel Club, Dog Registry of America, Inc., International Designer Canine Registry and the Designer Breed Registry. Full-grown, they typically weigh 13-16 pounds and stand 8-11 inches tall.
How do Havamalts behave around young children?
Havamalts are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. The Havamalt is a mix of the Havanese and the Maltese dog breeds. A mixed breed dog can have a combination of any of the temperament and characteristics of any breed involved. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
Can Havamalts keep up with an active lifestyle?
The Havamalt is happiest when they are with their family. They are a companion dog. The Havamalt will adapt to the family's lifestyle. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
Do Havamalts shed a lot?
Havamalt, as a designer hybrid, may have a coat that more closely resembles one breed more than the other. However, generally speaking, the Havamalt will likely exhibit a hypo-allergenic coat ideal for those with allergies. The Havamalt often exhibits a full double coat. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.
Where do Havamalts do best — city or country?
Havamalts are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They are fairly easy to train.
