The Brittany is one of those dogs that never seems to run out of energy. They are excellent family dogs as long as you give them plenty of exercise. They are smart, loving, and relatively easy to train. So long as they get their exercise, the Brittany makes an excellent companion. Full-grown, they typically weigh 30-40 pounds and stand 17-21 inches tall.

Brittanys are generally good with kids, especially when raised together. If you aren't willing to give your dog plenty of daily exercise, neither you nor your Brittany will be happy. They need a family that will take them out to hunt, play fetch, or do anything that involves plenty of running and playing. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.

You won’t believe how much energy a Brittany has. You need to be committed to taking your dog out for vigorous daily exercise if you want a Brittany. If you put in the energy to keep your Brittany happy, you and your family will be rewarded with a brilliant, loyal companion. Overall, their exercise needs are very high.

The Brittany has a relatively low-maintenance coat. They require weekly brushing, but that’s about it. Of course, if your Brittany decides a mud pit is the best place to play, you’ll need to give it a bath, otherwise it’s just basic maintenance with only moderate shedding. Grooming-wise, this breed is moderate.

Brittanys are best suited for a home with a yard, though they can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
