Although I have been breeding and training dogs for many years I am relatively new to this breed. I bought one form a breeder in Tampa and fell in love with the sweet temperament of chow chows. They are extremely loyal to their owners and families and make a good security pet as well. There coats are long and lush which suits them well in cooler climates as well as warmer ones (we are in the Florida Panhandle. They train easily and are as good off lead as well as on. Their size (27 or less lbs) are quite deceiving as the look much bigger. They will shed their winter coat in the spring to climatize for warmer whether. They are fine indoors and out. We are on multiple acres and have found that they stay close to home and will only rarely explore beyond site of the house; however, when you want to walk they will follow you to ends of the earth. I regular hike with them off lead on and off our property. If you are looking for loving and dedicated dog you will not do better than this breed.
