Our journey with Belgian Malinois started in a way we never expected. My husband met a homeless man who had a Malinois, and after helping him, the man passed away about three months later. His mother entrusted us with his female Belgian Malinois. Not long after, we experienced the kind of heartbreak that comes with loving this breed so deeply. Our female was full of life and loved to run. One day, she jumped a very high fence chasing a deer that had come into our yard. In that moment, she ran into the road and was hit. Losing her was incredibly hard. But that experience didn’t push us away from the breed it drew us in even more. We saw firsthand their drive, intelligence, and spirit. We later brought in a male and female from the same breeders, and that’s when our journey truly began. By just 7 months old, we had them involved in barn hunt training, where their natural instincts and abilities really started to shine. That’s how we got started raising Belgian Malinois not from a plan, but from an unexpected beginning that turned into a passion. These dogs are more than just animals to us. They are driven, loyal, and full of purpose, and they’ve become a meaningful part of our lives.
