Well I’ve had a male German shepherd for about eight or nine years now never got him fixed we never had any other dogs around so it was not a problem but soon after my family and I moved to Texas I was discussing with my older brother one night around the dinner table about dog breeding ( mind you I have the prettiest and most handsome boy ever:) I was telling him I would like to get a Labrador and have German lab mix puppies well he well he decided with out telling me that he’s gonna surprise me so he proceeded to buy what he thought was a Labrador puppy he was like a got you something come to the cabin and see of course I loved her the second I played eyes on her and she did look a lot like a lab well my brother not know much about dog breeds I asked him how much did you pay for her he says only $30 I was like well I think you were lied to I said did you see the parents he said no and I told him that it was very unlikely that someone would sell a purebred lab for only 30 dollars anyway long story short she turned out to be a mutt and I got her fixed as soon as I could so I wouldn’t have to worry about it and that is how my female German shepherd came to pass (aka muffin) my brother decided to surprise me with another puppy only this time it was a German shepherd and he made sure to get it right so now she’s about 3 years old and we have eight beautiful puppies who are looking for a good home to go to
About German shepherds 101
I have just two German shepherds they stay out side all the time my dad doesn’t allow inside pets so they are outside (every once in a while I sneak mom in at night for fort night:) um we have 40 acres of ranch so they have plenty of space to run wander and explore I take rides with the atv and they run beside me the whole time until they are exhausted and then they proceed to jump in the fountain to cool off
When mama has puppies I have a fenced off area specifically for her that the male can’t get to for her to feel safe to have her puppies unbothered she has a large dog house in there with plenty of space to maneuver around her babies without accidentally laying on them the box has a ramp on the front so as the pups get older and begin to venture out of the box they can learn to use the ramp to get in and out when they are first born I will usually just have a soft blankets in there for her to lay on and after a few days I will remove that and replace it with hay/straw there is plenty of shade for them and a puppy pool for them to play in or cool off if need be and if it’s cold out I use heat lamps to keep them warm by the time they are 4 to 5 weeks old they get taken out and go on long walks with us I have a 6 nephew and 4 year old niece and the like to play with them not stop so they get plenty of socialization time with little peoples
Another bonus because they are almost always outside they get used to going to the bathroom only in the grass and that will give you a big head start on potty training at about three weeks I start them on puppy mush ( just puppy kibble that’s been soaked to the point of being soggy in water or milk) they all have big appetites I feed them the merrick brand puppy food from PetSmart
