About Us
I’ve dreamt about this batch of puppies since I was a boy. Maybe your family was like mine—I grew up with a Labrador by my side. After supper on summer nights, that dog was my constant companion. In the fall, we’d walk fields in the Dakotas, and that’s where I began to witness the deeper magic of the Labrador breed—that rare harmony of joyful enthusiasm and quiet deference to its master, paired with a powerful instinct to follow scent and return the prize to the master’s hand. There’s something timeless about it—the age-old dance between hunter, dog, and bird. There is something unique about labradors - whether in the field or at your feet, a well-bred Lab has a way of knowing what you need—when to charge forward and when to sit patiently by your side. It’s a kind of partnership that feels timeless. And when you see it in motion, it’s not just effective—it’s beautiful. I was about eight when my family got our first Labrador. I loved her with my whole heart. She was loyal and full of personality—but she wasn’t without her challenges. She could be aggressive with neighbor dogs, and I remember watching her flush pheasants a quarter mile out—long before we were ready. I adored her, but even then, I sensed something was missing: purpose. That experience planted a dream in me—not just to have a dog, but to one day develop a line of Labradors that honored the best of the breed. Dogs with the heart for the home, but also the patience and drive to shine in the field. Not random. Not rushed. Just deeply, intentionally bred Labs—the best of the best, for every moment to count. I tried a few times to start that dream by purchasing a dog, but none quite met the mark. Then life gave us something better than what I could plan. My sister got a puppy—Marcie—in exchange for doing the flowers at a wedding. From Marcie came Beanie, who lived with my parents. And then I got Clover, who was everything I had hoped for. Now we have Liberty—our fourth-generation female, the sweetest Lab I’ve ever known, with a gentle temperament and an instinctive love for the hunt. These are dogs we’ve lived with, trained, hunted beside, and truly known – the best or the best. Liberty’s first litter is more than just a milestone—it’s the realization of a childhood dream and the continuation of a family legacy. She’s been paired with a stud from a world-class championship line. These puppies are not mass-produced—they’re history coming true, and history in the making. That’s why I created Family Labs as a new brand with a long history. The name reflects what these dogs have always been: family. This isn’t a kennel. It’s a legacy that’s been lived in living rooms and hunting fields, and we’re proud to offer that legacy to others. These puppies a chance for our legacy of Labradors to become part of your family’s legacy - in memories, stories, photos, and heart felt moments that will last forever.
