Heart of the Mitten Doodles

We are Heart of the Mitten Doodles, located at the geographic center of Michigan, where we homestead with a large family, large gardens, many animals and raise goldendoodles and German Shepherds. Our daughter raises the German Shepherds while we focus solely on the smaller breed that we love: the goldendoodle. While we have focused on the mini doodle, we have chosen to achieve this size through just one AI procedure with a smaller female Golden Retriever and a mini poodle. We then have used the only female doodle she produced to be the matriarch of our breeding program: we do not ignore health concerns in order to create mini puppies. We want small puppies with great health and superb personalities; and by making happy and informed choices along the way, that's what we get! We are not a kennel: just a family raising 1-2 litters of pups a year with the intention of providing our children the important experience of raising puppies while also providing the world at large better and healthier choices for long-time fur companions. Our female doodle is a fantastic mama and as a result her babies are well-fed, well-adjusted, and blessed with all the instincts and training that mama dogs provide for their pups. We raise our pups in-house in order to provide the care and socialization they need to become the good-natured dogs it is our desire to provide other households. If our kids are reading, they are also playing with a pup. If our kids are scampering, the pups are right at their heels. If our kids are sleeping, they have a puppy to hug (when the pup is old enough!). Our pups are simply a part of our lives no matter what we are doing. We take time to be with them because we value them and their future families. We raise pups a lot like we raise kids! To be happy, well-adjusted, resilient, affectionate, sweet, attentive and attuned. Due to our smaller breeding program, we don't have loads of reviews but we have kept up with one of our pups which is a companion therapy dog for assisted living. (owned by a veterinarian assistant!) Each of our pups has gone to homes where they travel, they play, they go camping, and are loved to pieces by their owners, who range from retired couples, single seniors or families with children! These pups are simply great family dogs: they get along well with bigger dogs and... there just aren't that many canines that are smaller ! These are puppy-sized almost forever!
