Contact Me I grew up around dogs and breeding for the best of the best. My parents raised and successfully exhibited (showed) standard collies (and horses) my entire childhood and teenage years, so an understanding of correct conformation, movement, and temperament was instilled in me early on. Once I got out on my own, I swore I would never have a breed that had SOO much hair again. Instead, by kismet, I fell in love with Danes (read more on my website). When my children were little, I was also introduced to Miniature Dachshunds and, for about 15 years, took a break from Danes and showing to focus solely on the Dachshunds and my growing family. A year ago, the opportunity to take over a ranch full of great, great grand-offspring from my dane bloodlines presented itself, which I couldn't pass up. So we sold everything, packed up the weens, and moved to Washington. It has been a huge undertaking and is still a work in progress, but it feels more like home every day. I have been an AKC-inspected breeder for over 30 years. Despite my many years of experience, I still do not consider myself an expert and am by no means perfect. I strive to learn new and better ways to raise healthy puppies constantly. The advent of DNA health testing has made amazing advancements and has become more readily available as a tool to help breeders take some of the guesswork out of the genetic equation. I spend every spare moment comparing notes with other reputable breeders, as well as researching health and genetics that would make most people's heads spin. It’s almost unfathomable how much has changed for breeders and the breed over the last 20 years. My dogs are my full-time “job”, really, I enjoy it too much to call it that. I do things a bit differently from most breeders. The adult Danes have huge, spacious runs with custom shelters, shade trees, and lots of natural enrichment where they are kept in pairs for socialization. Our Dane mama's have private 10x12 rooms with power, heat, and live cameras so I can monitor at all times. The adult Dachshunds have free access from the house to their own play yard, where they run as a socially healthy pack. The Dachshund pups are raised in my master bedroom suite, while the danes are raised from weaning to 12 weeks in my living room. Sometimes that does make for a very full house, but early socialization is very important to us.
