About Us
Welcome to Sweet Honey Bunn Hounds!
About the Breeder
Hi, my name is Alondra! I’ve been around animals of all kinds my entire life, and my passion for their care has only grown over the years. I’m currently pursuing my studies to become a marine veterinarian and work full-time as an Animal Laboratory Technician at UAB. My background includes hands-on experience in animal husbandry, health observation, medication administration, and sanitation protocols, which I apply to every aspect of my breeding program. I take pride in raising healthy, well-socialized small breed and designer puppies in a clean, nurturing environment. Every puppy is handled with love and attention from day one, and their early care—such as vaccinations, deworming, feeding, and enrichment—is guided by both professional knowledge and personal passion.
At Sweet Honey Bunn Hounds, we are passionate about raising healthy, happy small and toy breed dogs with loving personalities and lifelong potential. Our breeding program focuses on producing well-socialized puppies that stay small in size but are big in heart—perfect for families, individuals, and cozy living spaces.
Each puppy is raised in a clean, nurturing environment where they receive early socialization, hands-on care, and routine health support including vaccinations and deworming administered by us. We prioritize temperament, structure, and a smooth transition from our home to yours.
If you're searching for a loyal lapdog or playful little partner, we're here to help you find your perfect match. Welcome to the Honey Bunn Hounds family—where little dogs bring big joy!
Breed & Care Disclaimer
At Sweet Honey Bunn Hounds, we currently breed a select group of small-breed dogs, including:
Miniature Dachshunds (Hound Group)
We also produce designer mixes such as Chiweenies. Each breed—and mix—brings its own unique charm, care needs, and personality.
🐾 Breed Traits & Temperament
Dachshunds are intelligent, loyal, and bold with a stubborn streak. They tend to bond closely with their people and may be vocal watchdogs. They love to burrow and enjoy moderate play.
Chihuahuas are alert, affectionate, and confident despite their tiny size. They thrive as loyal lapdogs but need proper socialization to avoid reactivity.
✨ Coat Types
Our litters may produce a variety of coat types depending on parent pairing:
Longhaired – Soft, flowy fur; needs brushing 2–3 times per week.
Shorthaired/Smooth – Low maintenance, quick to dry, and easy to groom.
Wire-haired/Silky wire (seen in some Dachshunds) – Requires occasional trimming and regular brushing to prevent matting.
🧼 Grooming & Coat Care
* Regular brushing keeps shedding under control and helps avoid tangles.
* Bathing every 3–4 weeks is typically sufficient unless the dog gets dirty.
* Clean ears, trim nails, and check for buildup around eyes and paws.
* Pomeranians may need more frequent brushing due to dense undercoats.
📣 Noise Level
* Dachshunds and Chihuahuas can be alert barkers, especially if not trained early.
* Early socialization and positive training can help manage excessive barking.
🎾 Playtime & Enrichment
* Daily exercise is essential—even for small breeds.
* Dachshunds love digging and puzzle toys.
* Chihuahuas enjoy short walks, cuddles, and mental stimulation.
Small breeds should not jump off furniture due to risk of injury.
🥣 Feeding & Nutrition
We recommend Royal Canin Puppy Formula or similar small-breed-specific dry kibble.
* Puppies are fed ¼ cup, 3 times a day.
* Avoid overfeeding—small breeds are prone to weight gain.
* Fresh water should be available at all times.
* Treats should be given sparingly and sized appropriately for tiny mouths.
