Photos tell part of the story. Video tells the whole one.
Puppies.com listings now support video uploads, and it is one of the most meaningful upgrades we have made for breeders in years. You can now add video directly to your listings and share clips with buyers right inside your message chats, giving serious families a real look at your puppies before the first conversation even starts.
A short video goes a long way. Buyers want to see personality. How a puppy moves, plays, and responds to the world around them. A 10 to 20-second clip shot on your phone is genuinely all it takes. No professional equipment. No editing. Just your puppy being a puppy.
We built this feature to help breeders who take transparency seriously stand out, and to help buyers fall in love before they ever reach out. That is a win for everyone in the Puppies.com community. Before you begin using this new feature, here are a few simple tips to help ensure your success:
Setting up the shot
Hold your phone vertically, not sideways. This keeps the video properly sized for the site. Get down low, at your puppy's eye level.
A clean, simple background works best: a plain wall, a blanket, or a tidy patch of grass. Stand about three steps back so your puppy fits comfortably in the frame.
Recording
Open your camera app, switch to video mode, and press record. Say your puppy's name, squeak a toy, or let them walk toward you. Aim for 10 to 20 seconds; just enough to capture how they move and interact.
Keep your elbows on your knees to steady the shot, and avoid zooming in. Step closer instead. Take two or three clips and pick your favorite.
A few things to avoid
Filming toward a bright window or the sun will wash out your puppy. Indoor overhead lighting at night tends to look flat. Daytime natural light almost always looks best.
Uploading your video
You can add videos directly to your listings or send them through the message center. It's easiest to do this from your phone since the videos are already in your camera roll.
In the message center, tap the attachment icon to the left of the message box, select Add Videos, and choose up to five clips at once. They'll appear in the message area but won't send until you type a message and tap Send. Depending on your connection, videos may take a few seconds to upload. Once sent, they'll appear in the conversation just like your messages.
