My journey with the Bouvier des Flandres began in 2003, and over the years the breed has become an enormous part of my life.
My professional career took me around the world as an airline captain flying the Boeing 777. I was fortunate to see some extraordinary places throughout my career, but no matter where my travels took me, coming home to my Bouviers was always the best part of the trip.
For many years, I owned and operated K9 Games Reno, a canine athlete club where canine behavior was at the heart of everything we did. Understanding how dogs think, learn, communicate, and work with their people has always been one of my greatest interests.
Over the years, I have trained, taught, participated in, or competed in carting, rally, obedience, conformation, agility, tracking, barn hunt, FAST CAT, herding, dock diving, canine parkour, and swimming. I am also a carting judge and continue to enjoy judging and supporting the working heritage and versatility of the Bouvier des Flandres.
I am a Certified Canine Nutritionist, and my interest in dogs has always centered on the whole dog—behavior, temperament, nutrition, health, structure, working ability, and the relationship between dogs and their people.
I am now combining two important parts of my life—aviation and dogs—through the development of Fit for Duty K9, a service-dog program designed for the airline community.
Despite the training, competition, judging, breeding, and years spent traveling the world, my favorite moments with my Bouviers are often the simplest. They are my family. I love loading one or two into the vehicle to run errands with me, spending time with them around our mountain property, and having them beside me during everyday life.
The Bouvier is an extraordinary combination of intelligence, strength, humor, loyalty, versatility, and heart. More than two decades after my first Bouvier entered my life, they continue to teach me something new.
And after a career spent traveling the world, home is still wherever my Bouviers are.

Nestled high in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, Rhode Mountain Bouviers is located on our 20-acre lavender farm, where our Bouviers are first and foremost members of our family.
Our dogs live in our home, share our everyday lives, and enjoy plenty of room to explore the mountain property alongside our chickens and turkeys. Puppies born here are raised right in the middle of family life, surrounded by the sights, sounds, animals, activity, and affection that help build confident, well-rounded Bouviers.
We are a small, preservation-minded breeding program and breed only every few years, carefully planning each litter with an emphasis on health, temperament, structure, working ability, and the wonderful character that makes the Bouvier des Flandres such an extraordinary breed.
Our Bouviers are more than beautiful companions—they are versatile working dogs. Over the years, our dogs have participated in conformation, carting, herding, barn hunt, obedience, rally, and agility, demonstrating the intelligence, strength, willingness, and versatility for which the breed was developed.
At Rhode Mountain Bouviers, our puppies begin their lives as part of our family, and that commitment doesn’t end when they leave our mountain. We treasure the families who welcome our puppies into their homes and love watching each Rhode Mountain Bouvier become exactly what this remarkable breed was meant to be: a devoted companion, capable working dog, and beloved member of the family.
