About H
A little background, my intention is to make quality poodle puppies available for a reasonable price. I know how hard it was for us to find a quality standard health verified poodle in a price range that was affordable for us. It was very difficult, it took months and a lot of communication, negotiation and travel before we finally got ours. We just wanted a good healthy, truly hypoallergenic standard poodle. We had done all the research we knew we wanted a poodle because they are considered one of the smartest dogs, easily trainable, generally more calm than the other poodles and with less health issues, plus truly hypoallergenic.
We knew we didn’t want a doodle because although they were super cute and all the rage there is no guarantee they will be hypoallergenic or which other trait would be inherited.
It was originally to be trained as a service dog. However, when one of the challenges that someone faces is tism, things don’t always go as planned. There perhaps wasn’t the forethought and planning needed on my part. ( For starters, I don’t know what I was thinking making it a Surprise.🙄)
Our child had made an unexpected bond with a friend’s collie. He was awesome, would instantly come and be right next to our child, go wherever our kiddo went; sit or lay near; usually touching and when frustration started would really lean into and press up against them. The dog would sometimes seem to slightly look to get attention, but always was just being there for the child. He also seemed to sense a potential emotional overload before we would. As a parent it was amazing. Who wouldn’t want that?
However, the allergies and, oh my, the dog hair were not wanted. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and our friends had to go through the heart ache of making the tough decision to put the dog down. Our child missed his visits. I was already looking, but this added a bit of urgency.
Fast forward through a lot of time effort and disappointment, puppy procured, brought home, fail on my part with introduction and not thinking neurodivergently. And young puppy with no training brought a lot of change to our home.
In the mean time our child’s had a friend that had a couple of goats and our child wanted one. I actually had goats growing up. My mom had taken me a lot of places to show them. My wheels started turning as I reminisced a bit. We needed to start with a registered goat.
(Not the case with dog. We had no intentions to show a dog. If there was an interest there was always agility and other fun events and competition, hence why we opted to negotiate with the breeder and opted to forgo receiving registration papers for the dog.)
Long story short, child bonded with the goat, they hung out together. We go to shows, it is sometimes hard, but it is also a growth and development opportunity. (And goat math is trying to take hold here)
Back to the dog, three years later a bit of a bond has developed between them. When there is distress the dog IS right there and it DOES help. But I believe it would be a lot stronger if I had better forethought and planning. Then we would have had the dog trained as I had originally envisioned.
Over the last couple of years we have encountered people that have expressed the desire for a dog like ours but were faced with the same difficulties we had. Lots of designer doodles available, lots of $$, the push that only registered dogs are the only “good”dogs. Well, personally, some of the best dogs I have had were technically mutts. They lived long healthy well loved lives well, except honestly when a heartbreaking tragedy struck.
So with a little encouragement we decide to breed our poodle.
And here we are -
If you haven’t gathered from the above. I am convicted to provide quality, healthy, purebred poodles at a more reasonable price/affordable price to people that need or want a pure bred poodle.
