Our puppies are raised inside our home, I get to share my office room with them 🫶🏽. During their first 3 weeks, they cannot regulate their own body temperature and need the room to be pretty warm. We use a puppy-safe heating pad and control the temperature of the room with the room’s heater. The puppies don’t move around too much at this stage, so we keep the puppies in their whelping pen and ensure that mama can come in and out. Once the puppies are 3.5-4 weeks old, we introduce puppy mush and put in the potty trays. We also extend their area with a puppy play pen in addition to their whelping box, though they are still learning to walk at this stage. Around 5-6 weeks we begin letting the puppies outdoor to potty and implement a daily routine: feeding 3x a day and going outside to potty right after they eat. By the time they are 7 weeks, we are going outside to potty every 2-3 hours and overnight, the puppies use their potty trays.
