About Papaw's Back Porch Bostons
I am a senior citizen who has been privileged to spend each and every day of my long life in the company of one or more Boston Terriers. I am a second-generation ethical home breeder who specializes in light and middle weight class Bostons who have Haggerty Spots and the AKC breed standard brindle coat color in their bloodlines. I learned all about Bostons from my late daddy (aka Papaw) as I watched him selectively breed, love and care for Boston Terriers throughout my life. I follow his old-fashioned breeding practices and business ethics in my home-based small retirement business.
Papaw's Back Porch Bostons has a multiple litter history of healthy puppies. All puppies come with a health guarantee. All puppies have been examined and cleared by a veterinarian educated at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, one of the best vet schools in the world. My vet respects the old-fashioned ways in which I care for my puppies.
My registerable, purebred Boston Terriers are whelped and raised in a loving home environment. All my puppies have extensive socialization with litter mates, dog parents/grandparents and people. They are used to riding in cars; being handled; and are not startled by common household noises like doorbells, coffee grinders, ice makers, blow dryers, etc.
Regarding shipping: I convey puppies personally to their new owners. If in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, I typically arrange to meet at a public location and drive to meet the new owners. If further away, flight nanny service is available at airline ticket cost to fly from DFW to a major airport in your area.

Papaw was a simple, country man who grew up on a farm in Arkansas, raising a variety of animals. He fell in love with Boston Terriers when he served in the US Army in Germany after World War II. The lieutenant over the platoon in which he served found a stray Boston Terrier roaming on the base one day and decided that he would adopt the puppy to become the platoon's mascot to build morale. The lieutenant named the dog Half Track after the vehicles they routinely used. Papaw became Half Track's handler and caregiver. Half Track went with Papaw literally everywhere and slept with Papaw on his top bunk in the barracks. Papaw wanted to bring Half Tract back to Texas with him when he completed his four-year stint in Germany, but he couldn't afford all of the fees required to bring an animal back to the US.
Once Papaw returned home, he told all kinds of stories about his adventures with Half Track in Germany. A few months after he returned home, he found out that I was "on the way." The first gift he gave me was my very own Boston Terrier. I have not lived a day of my life without the company of a Boston Terrier.
Papaw's breeding dogs were first and foremost family pets. Following Papaw's way, my breeding dogs are personally owned family pets. Litters are whelped inside my home. All puppies are sold as pet quality.
Papaw believed that God created each puppy uniquely, and that it was not a breeder's responsibility to alter His creation. Following Papaw's way, I do not remove dew claws, crop ears, or dock tails.
Papaw had tremendous respect for veterinarians. He considered veterinarians to be the "all-in-one" doctor because they practice ALL the medical specialties (i.e. pediatrics, radiology, dentistry, OB/GYN, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, pharmacology, general surgery, etc.) on MULTIPLE SPECIES! Papaw encouraged his puppy buyers to "get with their own" veterinarian to perform age-appropriate vaccinations and other preventative care BECAUSE small and medium weight class Boston Terriers seldom weigh over five pounds when they are eight weeks old. Papaw considered puppies under eight pounds to be "too small" for vaccines. Papaw maintained a carefully controlled environment for his puppies, so they were not exposed to diseases. He allowed puppies to continue limited nursing between six and ten weeks of age to increase the immunities they acquire from their mother. Following Papaw's way, my puppies are ideally conveyed at eight weeks of age so that they obtain initial shots from THEIR PERSONAL VETERINARIAN. Most puppies are near five pounds at that age, and their personal veterinarian can prescribe an appropriate immunization protocol based on local legal requirements and risks. I guarantee that the puppy is healthy when conveyed, and I require that buyers arrange to have puppies checked by a licensed veterinarian within five business days of conveyance.
Papaw loved ALL the dogs he bred. If buyers were unable to keep and care for his dogs for ANY reason, he always welcomed them back to their birthplace. Following Papaw’s way, I do likewise. Puppies are always welcome back to my home. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL THIS PUPPY BE SOLD; LEASED; OR GIVEN AWAY TO A PET STORE, LABORATORY, ANIMAL SHELTER, OR RESEARCH FACILITY!
