It honestly started as a “I need more joy in my life” moment.
For years, my world was all psychology, students, reports, hearings and trauma work, but I kept finding myself drawn to small companion breeds, especially Maltese and Yorkies. Then I met a friend’s Morkie who was this perfect mix of lap‑dog comfort and goofy, confident energy, and I remember thinking, “If every stressed‑out family had one of these, the world would be a little softer.”
Typical me, I didn’t jump in blindly. I spent months researching health, genetics and responsible breeding, talking with vets and solid breeders and planning that first litter like it was a clinical project. When the puppies finally arrived, I was hooked. Watching their personalities unfold week by week felt like a live demonstration of attachment, temperament and early socialization.
What made it stick was the homes they went to. Seeing these tiny Morkies walk into lives marked by stress, loss or just burnout and genuinely change the emotional temperature in those households made it feel like an extension of my work in mental health, just furrier and a lot more fun.
So now, dog breeding, specifically Morkies, is my “joy project.” I still think like a psychologist about temperament, early experiences and fit with the home, but at the end of the day, I’m just really grateful I followed that impulse to bring a little more comfort and laughter into people’s lives, one tiny puppy at a time.
About The Marvels

Our four Morkie puppies are being raised right in our home, not in a kennel. Their play pen is set up in our bright family room with big windows, soft bedding, cozy blankets, and age‑appropriate toys. They hear everyday household sounds (voices, TV, cooking, doors) and get gentle handling every day, so they’re growing up confident and comfortable in a normal home environment.
We keep a simple, consistent routine for the puppies:
• Short play times in the pen with soft balls, rope toys and plush buddies
• Lots of cuddles and positive human contact
• Clean bedding, fresh water during awake times, and multiple small meals
