Hello Friends!
My name is Teresa. I am a proud mom of 3 amazing kids, ages 21, 11 and 7. I live in a small rural town called Farmington, about 30 minutes south of St. Paul Minnesota.
I am an animal lover of all kinds. I grew up on a small hobby farm in a rural part of Minnesota, about 10 miles from where I am currently living. Playing with neighborhood kids was not an option very often when I was little, so my brothers, sister, and I spent our time playing with and taking care of horses, pigs, cats, and dogs.
I grew up with the love for them and that love has carried into my adulthood. I have been breeding my dog babies for about 10 years now, and I limit the liters to one a year. I am not a puppy mill, pumping out baby after baby. This kind of practice is horrific and a tragedy. I am pleased to see that States are stepping up and requiring these places are licensed and inspected regularly to limit animal abuse and unnecessary deaths.
I choose to breed to allow my children to develop the love of animals and to teach them about the cycle of life. I teach them about the development of the embryos and the changes that are occurring in our bitch during the whelping process. I love that I can teach them about life and what a miracle every life on this planet is. The miraculous development of all the tiny cells that must come together just at the right time to make us, make a puppy, a cat, a bug to a snake. It's all a miracle and we must take care of the lives of all living species out there, especially the ones that cannot protect themselves. I use the conception of these puppies to teach them how precious and delicate our lives are.
All our puppies are born into this world in a warm loving home, they are never caged or kenneled. They all get to snuggle into our beds as they get older. They go on daily walks after the age of 5 weeks and will come accustomed to the world, the noises, the people, kids, and other dogs.
They are taught to potty on a puppy pad and will go home with this training well in the works (I didn't say that they are perfect every time, but they will go home with the knowledge of puppy pads are where they are supposed to go. My floor is also covered with pads, so it's hard for them to go on anything other than a pad. This area gets reduced each week they get older). My bitches never have more than three pregnancies in a lifetime as I will not risk her health or the health of the puppies to do have her carry more than that.
Our puppy’s health is checked just after birth and again at 6-8 weeks when they get their first round of shots and another review of their health to ensure a long life with their forever family.

As whelping approaches, we prepare a safe, quiet, and dimly lit area so the process can take place naturally. While we keep a watchful eye on Mom's progress, we rarely need to intervene during the delivery of her puppies. Our focus is always on her well-being and making sure she has everything she needs to be comfortable.
We play soothing music, keep plenty of cold water nearby, and have a basket full of clean sheets ready. Honestly, our moms are often pampered even more than a human mother in a hospital! Coco likes to be able to see me at all times, or at least know that I'm close by. To accommodate her, I purchased a sliding storage drawer that fits perfectly under my bed, which is elevated on risers. The bed skirt provides the privacy she desires, the security a new mother needs, and a safe place for her puppies to rest while she takes a quick break to relieve herself.
Once all the puppies have been born, I place identifying markers on each one so I can carefully monitor their weight gain and development. The children know that we do not handle the puppies during their first two weeks of life. They are extremely fragile at that stage, and their mother is very protective.
The puppies remain safely under my bed for approximately four weeks. After that, I move them to the family room, where we set up a dedicated play area separated from the other dogs. This allows them to safely explore toys, experience different foods, and begin learning to use puppy pads for emergencies.
I also set an alarm every hour and twenty minutes to remind me that it's time for a potty break. This consistent schedule helps establish good habits from an early age. Potty training is always a challenge, but this routine provides a solid foundation and helps puppies learn that grass is the preferred place to go.
Our puppies are raised with an abundance of love, attention, and positive experiences. We work hard to expose them to the world so they grow into confident, well-adjusted companions rather than fearful ones. They become accustomed to loud trucks, police sirens, children of all ages, and other animals, including cats, dogs, and rabbits.
We do not allow our puppies to leave for their forever homes before they are at least nine to ten weeks old. This gives them valuable time to continue learning important social and behavioral skills from their mother. Puppies who leave too early may be more likely to develop shyness, insecurity, or behavioral challenges as they mature.
We never rush the process. Some puppies are ready at eight weeks, while others benefit from staying until twelve weeks. We always do what is best for the individual puppy—exactly what a responsible breeder should do.
We love our puppies too much to separate them from their mother before they're truly ready. It isn't fair to the puppy, and it isn't fair to the family welcoming them home. When the time is right, the puppy lets me know. Giving them that extra time provides the best opportunity for them to become a happy, confident, and cherished member of your family.
