Welcome to Classic Scotties! We are the Vargas family, located in sunny Bakersfield, California. We are a small, boutique breeding family dedicated to preserving the classic standard, exceptional health, and loyal temperament of the beloved Scottish Terrier.
We are not a kennel. Our parent dogs are our cherished family companions first and foremost. Every single puppy from our litters is whelped and raised right inside our home. From the day they are born, they are handled daily by our family, including our son, ensuring they are exposed to everyday household sounds and are highly socialized, confident, and incredibly sweet by the time they are ready to transition to their forever homes.
We believe in quality over quantity, which is why we provide an elite transition experience for every new owner, including early socialization, comprehensive vet checks, and a curated puppy pack to make their first nights away from mom as stress-free as possible.

Our Setup & Environment
We are a boutique, family-run program, which means we do not operate a kennel facility. Our setup is entirely in-home. Our puppies are whelped and raised in a dedicated, pristine space right in our main living area. This ensures they are constantly monitored and seamlessly integrated into the daily rhythms of a loving household. For our adult dogs, we have a beautiful, securely fenced backyard with plenty of green grass where they enjoy the sunshine and daily exercise.
Our Daily Routine
Because our dogs are family first, our routine revolves around them. The puppies are handled daily from birth by our family, including our son, which provides absolutely invaluable early child-socialization. They are constantly exposed to normal household sights and sounds—like televisions, vacuums, and family conversations—so they grow into confident, fearless, and well-adjusted companions. As they grow, their routine includes scheduled feedings of premium nutrition, dedicated playtime, and foundational potty training.
Our Pack
We believe in quality over quantity. We intentionally keep our program very small, maintaining only our beloved parent dogs as our personal companions. By keeping our pack size small, we guarantee that our dogs and our litters receive our undivided attention, premium veterinary care, and endless affection.
