About Whymsical Beings
My name is Julie D’Hondt and I raise an occasional litter of pugs that are placed solely as pets and I intend to raise Skye Terrier’s in the near future. I absolutely love both breeds and, given that the Skye terrier breed is a wonderful breed that is nearly extinct, I have decided to raise them. My history is, I bred Bouvier des Flandres from 1996 through 2024, and an occasional litter of Afghan Hounds since 2009 when I decided to continue the legacy of a dear friend. However, due to personal reasons, all good things must come to an end, and for that reason, I no longer breed Bouviers and I will only be breeding one final litter of Afghan Hounds. In around 1910, all four of my grandparents immigrated to the US from Belgium, the country of origin for the Bouvier. In 1963, after our demolition company warehouse had been robbed multiple times, my father came home one night and said to my mother “I’m tired of this!! I’m getting a dog that will put a stop to it!! There is a new dog that has been brought into this country and it is from Belgium so it has to be good!!” Soon thereafter we obtained our first Bouvier from a breeder/trainer in Canada and when my father closed the demolition company about 2 years later that dog became mine. I was raised with the breed and I raised my children with Bouviers. I might add that my name “D’Hondt” actually means “the hound” or “the dog”. We love our dogs and take great pride in the puppies we produce. Therefore, we are selective about the homes to which they are adopted. Thank you for your consideration regarding our babies.
