About Michael
GSPdogDad Pointers AKC Registered German Shorthaired Pointers • Family-Raised • Thoughtfully Bred Welcome to GSPdogDad Pointers, a small, personal German Shorthaired Pointer breeding program built around two things that matter most to me: good dogs and good homes. I'm not a large commercial kennel, and I'm not trying to produce show-ring trophies. My goal is much simpler — to raise healthy, well-rounded and "super socialized" GSPs that will seamlessly transition to their new forever homes. Our foundation dogs are Dexter O'Neill Maximus and Chehalem Mountain Paulita, both have champion pedigree history and both are AKC registered. Paulita's AKC Certified Pedigree traces her lineage through established Chehalem Mountain lines, including Chehalem Mtn Diamond Jack in Spades and Chehalem Mtn Mona Lisa. Dexter's AKC Certified Pedigree traces his lineage through Orozco's Hunter and Kimber XXXII. While pedigree is important, I believe a dog's actual temperament, health, structure, intelligence and behavior matter just as much as the names on a piece of paper. My Philosophy is simple, great puppies aren't born to be great, they are raised to be great! So I focus on the following: Clean, safe and comfortable surroundings Excellent nutrition Regular handling from an early age Age-appropriate neurological and sensory development Progressive exposure to sights, sounds, surfaces and new experiences Early introduction to potty habits and crate life Individual attention and observation of each puppy's developing personality Honest communication with prospective puppy families We don't try to make every puppy the same. Every puppy has its own personality, energy level, confidence, instincts and quirks. My job is to get to know those differences and help each puppy find the home that fits it best. German Shorthaired Pointers are incredibly versatile dogs. They can be hunting partners, hiking companions, running buddies, and all around adventure dogs — GSPs require a lot of exercise, structure and training, but they are also very loving and affectionate dogs that want to be a part of the family and every day life. Our puppies are raised with the goal of producing versatile GSPs that can live successfully in the real world. You don't need to be a competitive hunter or show your dog to appreciate what makes a GSP special. You just need to understand that these are intelligent, energetic, athletic dogs that want to be involved in your life. Responsible breeding/socialization and finding the right family/person for my puppies is the number one priority of my program... Good dogs. Good temperament. Good care. Good socialization. Good homes. I also stay in contact with puppy families after they leave my home. Seeing how puppies develop at 6 months, 1 year and beyond is important to me — not only because I care about the dogs, but because it helps me learn what my breeding program is actually producing. The GSPdogDad Difference: When you bring home a GSPdogDad puppy, you're not just buying a puppy from a website, you're getting a puppy raised by someone who personally raised both parents, handles the puppies every day, watches their individual development and genuinely wants to know how that puppy grows into the dog it was meant to become. GSPdogDad Pointers-for the love of the breed and the homes they join! German Shorthaired Pointers AKC Registered Raised With Care • Raised With Purpose • Raised For Life
About GSPdogDad Pointers
GSPdogDad Pointers is a small, home-based German Shorthaired Pointer program where our dogs are part of the family—not kept in a commercial kennel environment. Dexter and Paulita live with us and are active members of our everyday life, enjoying walks, Hikes, Camping and outdoor time, and plenty of love and attention. Our puppies are raised in our home from birth, giving them daily handling, individual attention, and exposure to the sights, sounds and experiences of a normal household. We focus on raising confident, well-socialized GSPs that can become great family companions, hunting partners, and adventure dogs. We keep our program small so we can personally know each puppy and stay connected with the families who take them home.
