My husband and I live in Northwest Iowa. My husband is an elementary principal and my daughter and I are both early elementary school teachers. Our family currently has three schnauzers. Lily, age 9 (black and silver), is retired from motherhood, but now gets to be grandma to the pups, Henry, who just turned 7, is their uncle. He was born with cerebral palsy due to a tangled birth experience resulting in an extended period without oxygen. He is a favorite of all and we can’t imagine life without him, although keeping him was completely unplanned. And Hazel Mae is our littlest lady, just 12 weeks old. Our daughter's dog, Rose, is 4 years old and mama to the puppies. They are currently living with us so it's a busy household. Our dogs are first and foremost our beloved pets so we would probably be considered "hobby" breeders in some sense, as we only breed our dogs once a year and only for a few years, retiring them earlier than many. On the flip side, our dogs are from champion bloodlines out of the Suelen kennel, which has an outstanding reputation built over 45+ years of breeding mini schnauzers with meticulous attention to health, temperament, and conformation; and we are very serious about the quality and care of our pups. We raise our pups in our home as family pets. They are born in a small pool in our bedroom and sleep there till they can bail out of the pool at which point they move to a large plastic swimming pool in the middle of our family room. :) Once they outgrow the bigger swimming pool they move to our kitchen/dining room. In short, our puppies are raised in the midst of our daily busy families' life. We are committed to giving them lots of attention and care, and are attentive to their socialization, introducing them to people of all ages, other animals, car rides, and a wide variety of noises from thunderstorms to hair dryers. Our desire is to raise them to be well adjusted puppies that will transition smoothly to new families that will love them and be blessed by them. We are happy to answer questions and provide an application for "adoption" for any interested families.

We have one litter of puppies per year at most, only breeding our mommas when they are between the ages of 2-7 years. The puppies are birthed in our bedroom in a small pool. They remain in our bedroom for the first 2-3 weeks where we can watch them and hear them. When they are able to bail out of the small pool them move to a bigger plastic pool in the family room. Once they can jump out of that pool, or simply need more space, we move them into our kitchen. We begin pee pad training at 2-3 weeks and begin taking them outside to potty between 4-5 weeks. We have a large temporary fenced area for outdoor play and they have playtime in the house. We spend a lot of time with them playing and snuggling, and are intentional about their socialization. In short, our puppies are born and raised in our home in the midst of our regular, everyday life.
