If you asked me, “So, how did you get into this?” I’d probably tell you it started with my love for my dogs and grew into something I never expected to care this deeply about.
Madhouse Kennels is very new, and this is actually my very first litter. I’m not going to pretend I’ve been doing this for 20 years or that I know absolutely everything—because I don’t. What I can tell you is that I have put my whole heart into learning and doing things the right way.
From the moment I knew my girl MooMa was expecting, I became obsessed with making sure I was prepared. I researched, asked questions, learned about pregnancy, delivery, whelping, feeding, weight tracking, deworming, vaccinations, socialization—you name it. And once these babies arrived, they basically took over my life. 😂 There were sleepless nights, constant weight checks, worrying over every little sound, celebrating every new tooth and milestone, and probably way too many pictures in my camera roll.
But I wouldn't change it.
These puppies weren't raised somewhere separate from us. They were raised right in our home, around my family, everyday noises, love, attention, and lots of handling. I have watched their individual personalities develop from literally the moment they were born.
I'm also building Madhouse Kennels as I go. My goal isn't to produce litter after litter. I want to build something I'm proud of and become the kind of breeder I would personally feel comfortable getting a puppy from—someone who is honest, accessible, responsible, and genuinely cares where every baby ends up.
I'm still learning, and I'll always be willing to learn more. But if there's one thing I can promise, it's that I take the responsibility of bringing these babies into the world seriously. This first litter has taught me SO much, and these five little babies will always be the ones who started it all. ❤️
So that's really how I got here: one dog I absolutely fell in love with, five little puppies, a whole lot of learning, and the beginning of Madhouse Kennels. 🐾

My dogs and puppies are part of my everyday life, so caring for them isn't something I squeeze into my schedule—it pretty much IS my schedule. 😂
Right now I'm caring for MooMa, my French Bulldog and the mama of my first litter, Skie, my 6-year-old Husky, and the puppies from MooMa's litter who are still home with me. Having an adult Husky in the house has also been great for the puppies because they've grown up knowing that dogs don't all look, sound, or behave exactly like their mom and siblings.
Our mornings start with potty time and breakfast. The puppies have been introduced to potty-pad training, and I consistently bring them to their designated potty area after waking up, eating, playing, and naps. They're still babies and accidents absolutely happen, but they're learning the routine—Navy has even started going over to the pad by himself when he needs to potty, which makes me ridiculously proud. 😂
Throughout the day they aren't just sitting in a crate or playpen. They have supervised time to play together, explore the house, interact with us, and get used to normal household life. They're handled and loved on every day and are exposed to things like the TV, people talking, doors opening and closing, vacuuming and cleaning, different surfaces, and having an adult dog like Skie around.
I also pay close attention to each puppy individually. Since the day they were born I've monitored their eating, weight and development and learned their individual personalities. That was especially important with Rose, our smallest puppy, because I watched her growth very closely from the beginning.
Meals, fresh water, cleaning their area, washing bedding, potty training, playtime, naps and lots of cuddles are all part of our daily routine. I also started introducing structure early rather than waiting until they went to their new families.
At night we settle everything back down, make sure everyone has eaten, had a chance to potty, and has a clean and comfortable place to sleep.
I'm currently raising my first litter, so I'm not managing dozens of dogs or producing puppies constantly. That actually allows me to be very hands-on with the dogs and puppies I do have. I know who my wild child is, who is quieter, who learns quickly, who wants extra cuddles, and who is probably getting into something they shouldn't be. 😂
They're being raised as family dogs because that's exactly what I want them to become in their new homes—someone's family. ❤️🐾
