Temperament and Behavior

Bohemian Shepherds are known for their loyalty, trainability, and versatility. They are excellent herders, watchdogs, and family pets. They are also great at search and rescue, tracking, and obedience competitions.

Coat & Grooming

The Bohemian Shepherd has a thick, dense double coat that provides excellent protection against the harsh weather conditions in their native Czech Republic. The coat is typically black or black with tan markings, and is straight and coarse in texture. The undercoat is softer and denser, and helps to keep the dog warm in cold weather. The Bohemian Shepherd sheds moderately throughout the year, and will shed more heavily during seasonal changes.

Lifestyle & Living Conditions

The Bohemian Shepherd is a medium to large-sized breed that requires a moderate amount of space to live comfortably. They are not well-suited to apartment living or small homes without access to a secure outdoor space. A house with a fenced-in yard is ideal for the Bohemian Shepherd, as it provides them with enough room to run and play. However, it's important to note that simply having a yard is not enough to keep a Bohemian Shepherd happy and healthy.
