Overview

Cesky Fouseks are wire-haired pointers who work as hunting companions in the Czech Republic. These dogs are hard workers with loads of endurance, but at the end of the day, they like to be with their family.

Cesky Fouseks can run and run and run. And then run some more. From the Czech Republic, these wire-haired pointers are cunning hunters and seemingly tireless dogs. Deeply bonded with their family, Cesky Fouseks listen well and are always aiming to please. These happy-go-lucky dogs also make playful playmates for children. If you ever see these dogs less than cheery or chewing things they know they shouldn’t, it’s usually due to a lack of exercise.

Temperament and Behavior

Cesky Fouseks are friendly, loyal, and lively dogs! Their bushy brows and wiry mustache give them a goofy expression when listening intently, which they do quite a lot. In addition to listening, they like to talk. Easy to train, they catch on pretty quickly when you’d like them to quiet down. Cesky Fouseks are normally outgoing dogs, but it is important to socialize them with new people and other dogs early to ensure this quality.

Coat & Grooming

Cesky Fouseks have a wiry coat that naturally keeps pretty clean. Average shedders, weekly brushing with a bristle brush should do the trick. If they’ve dragged in leftovers from their daily adventure, you might need to give them a bath. Be sure to also check the Cesky Fousek’s long drop ears for ticks and ear infections regularly.

Lifestyle & Living Conditions

Cesky Fouseks don’t only love to run, they need to run. So be sure to give these pointers plenty of room to do just that. They are naturally happy dogs, but you’re sure to see a bummed out Cesky Fousek if kept in a small apartment. They require a large backyard, but beware that boredom and loneliness can bring these athletic dogs to flee in an effort to find you! Be sure to have all possible escape routes covered, and a high fence is recommended. With exercise needs met, Cesky Fouseks are gentle, loving pets for an active family with kids! They will also enjoy other four-legged friends in the house, if raised together.

Exercise & Activity

These wire-haired pointers enjoy hunting and have enough endurance to last the whole day sniffing out game for their hunting partners. Cesky Fouseks also enjoy exploring and stretching their legs on a long hike, and if you're looking for a running buddy, Cesky Fouseks can surely keep up! Try having them trail on a leash beside you as you ride a bicycle; it’s a great way to tire them out!
