They are often a little headstrong, so it’s best if you have lots of experience with dogs before adding one of these giant, strong-minded teddy bears to your family.
Temperament and Behavior
Pyrenean Mastiffs are protective of their families and because of their size, are capable of fending off large animals from their herd, so strangers should beware this large protector. It’s important to socialize your Pyrenean Mastiff around lots of people from an early age so they do not become too aggressive. Since they are used to making their own decisions when protecting herds, this breed can be headstrong. Owning a Pyrenean Mastiff requires an owner with strong leadership skills.
