This litter was a mismatch (unplanned) mating with a tri australian shepherd who lives 3 blocks away. Embark Breed ID DNA test of a different girl in the same litter is at https://app.embarkvet.com/pet/d53a2dcc-5dfb-4e9a-9745-f356a0201f9a/breed-reveal?source=share Puppies are part barbet, puli and tri australian shepherd. Barbets are an extremely rare breed. Puli is the ancestor of the barbet and the ancestor of nonshedding hypoallergenic breeds. Australian shepherds shed. When a hypoallergenic dog is breed to an allergenic dog, there is a 25% chance that a puppy (F1) will be hypoallergenic. Black and white. Bobtail (short tail) inherited from aussie father. Puppy's coat is wavy. Adult coat grows in at four months of age. Adult coat may be wavy or curly. Coat won't be corded because corded is a recessive gene. The puppy will be a medium size dog. The mother is 32 pounds and 18 inches at the shoulder. I don't know the measurements of the standard australian shepherd father but he is medium size. PICKUP AND LOCAL DELIVERY You may pick up at my home. Or on Mondays, I could deliver to Monterey, VA. On the weekend, I can deliver to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia which is near the WV/VA state line. This "local" delivery is at no charge. I reduced the price from $450 because few buyers have knowledge of the very rare breed barbet. When I was asking $450, I was willing to meet a buyer a hour further away from Monterey. VA or White Sulphur Springs, WV. Since I reduced the price to $200, I would be taking a loss. I am not willing to take further losses in gas money and my time. "Available for local delivery" does not mean free delivery out of state. I have not found a breeder on puppies.com or gooddog.com that offers free out of state delivery. Purebred barbets on gooddogs.com are $4,500 plus taxes and fees. https://www.gooddog.com/barbet/oh These breeders do not advertise free local delivery. They do advertise delivery to their local airport to meet buyers who fly in. This delivery may not be free. Breeders won't do "local" delivery unless their puppy is paid in full in advance. Whereas, I am not asking a deposit if you pick up within a week. HEALTH I paid $105 for a Wisdom Panel DNA test. The puppies do not have any genetic health conditions. The Wisdom Panel will be given to serious buyers. I haven't seen any breeders on these websites that have done genetic testing and offer the test. No barbet breeders have uploaded a genetic health test on their website. The puppies are healthy. Puppies are not around other dogs other than their mother. We live on acreage. Puppies have not been dewormed. Anti parasite medication is toxic to the liver. Dogs should not be dewormed unless a stool test is positive for parasites. During birth, the mother and newborn puppies were at the vet. $90 including vet fee and transportation. Puppy vaccinations are parvo and distemper. I could not find any statistics on the percentage of dogs actually being infected. Same with rabies. The real health problem in the United States is lyme disease from ticks. Tick prevention pills are prescribed by vets. Vets require an examine. The mother is on tick prevention pills. The puppies are not because a vet requires an exam of each puppy for the tick prevention. The initial price was $450. This is a very low price as there are very few barbet mixes in America. But few people know what the very rare breed barbet is. So I lowered the price. At the extremely low price of $200, no breeder will include a vet visit, deworming, vaccinations and tick prevention pills. Breeders take a loss at selling a puppy at $200 even when the breeders expenses do not include a vet visit and vaccinations. When you take the puppy to a vet, you ask and pay for all of the above. $200 is below the price local animal shelters charge for a puppy. harlottesville-Albemarle SPCA's adoption fee for puppies is $350. https://www.caspca.org/adoption-process Kanawha Charleston Humane Association charges $350 for puppies. https://adoptcharleston.com/stray_pets#:~:text=At%20KCHA%2C%20we%20use%20a,live%2C%20additional%20licenses%20may%20apply.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Barbet Puppies

What is a Barbet like?
The Barbet is a smart, sweet dog that makes friends wherever they go. With a cute, curly coat, a passion for swimming, and plenty of love to go around, these pups are the perfect pal for families and other furry friends. Full-grown, they typically weigh 35-65 pounds and stand 19-24 inches tall.
How do Barbets behave around young children?
Barbets are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. Barbets are medium-sized dogs that can live in almost any setting. This breed also loves any interaction they can get, whether it’s from children, dogs, or cats. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
Do Barbets need a lot of physical activity?
As sporting dogs, Barbets are used to getting exercise every day. They love taking a long walk, swimming, and doing just about any activity as long as you’re there. Barbets enjoy running around and playing outside, but at the end of the day, their favorite spot is a comfy place where they can relax by your side. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
What kind of coat care does a Barbet require?
The Barbet has a double coat of long, wooly, curly hair. They come in black, brown, fawn, or cream, and sometimes have white markings. Barbets need regular brushing and combing to keep their coat from getting tangled or matted, which happens even quicker when they go for a swim or play in the water. Grooming-wise, this breed is high-maintenance. Barbets are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
What living situation works for a Barbet?
Barbets are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They are fairly easy to train.

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods
Pay with a credit card or another traceable method that offers buyer protection. Avoid wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards, which are difficult to recover.
Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.
Know What to Look For
A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
Know Your State's Laws
Some states have lemon laws; others rely on contract law. Know your rights before you buy.
