Bronson is an adorable black and tan piebald. He is smooth coated mini and the coat type is confirmed by DNA testing. Her dad is Rio,a smooth coated blue and tan dappled piebald. Mom is Bristol, a wire haired Black and Tan Piebald. Both parents are DNA health tested. My pups always come with age-appropriate vaccinations and wormings, microchipped, dew claws removed, vet checked with a written report given to you, a generous puppy take home package, 30 days free Trupanion Health insurance, two year genetic guarantee, and life-time breeder support. Puppies always go home with AKC limited registration paperwork, unless full rights have been negotiated. Full rights will be at an additional cost to established breeders I am comfortable with. I will do my homework! I take pride in each of my puppies and they come pre-loved and spoiled by me. I can provide references by request. I do not ship my puppies in cargo, but will meet you at one of my nearby airports and hand your puppy safely to you so you can take them home in cabin. If a puppy is flown, there is an additional charge if you need me to provide a crate for you. Also a gas fee may apply depending on which airport you fly into. I also will meet part way or deliver within reason. Again a gas fee may apply. Please go to my website walnutrigehounds.com to see pictures of the parents, read my guarantee, and learn more about us! I will always gladly take your phone calls or set up video visits! To reserve a puppy, you must fill out my puppy application on the website and there is a $250 deposit. I am always happy to take your phone calls or do video chats! Thank you for looking and I hope to talk to you soon!

About
Dachshund
Puppies
What should I know about Dachshunds before buying one?
A Dachshund may be short, but they’re long in body and personality. These dogs are stubborn and can be aggressive, but are extremely loyal, loving, and protective of their families. It takes patience to raise a Dachshund, but there are many rewards. Full-grown, they typically weigh 16-32 pounds and stand 8-9 inches tall.
Are Dachshunds friendly with strangers and kids?
Dachshunds are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. Dachshunds fit best in homes where they can live indoors with their pet parents. Families with smaller children may want to choose a different breed, as Dachshunds can be a little too feisty and aggressive toward kids, especially if they don’t understand how to treat a dog with respect. They're very vocal and bark quite a lot.
How do I keep a Dachshund physically active?
Dachshunds need exercise a few times a day. They’ll enjoy a brisk walk, and their little legs can actually carry them for quite a distance if you’ve got time for a longer stroll. In general, plan on allotting about 30 minutes of exercise per day. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
Do Dachshunds shed a lot?
Dachshunds actually come in three different coat types, wire-haired, long-haired, and smooth. For smooth-haired and long-haired Dachshunds, a weekly brushing will help clean their hair and cut back on shedding. For wire-haired Dachshunds, you’ll need to pluck or strip their hair about twice a year and trim their excess hair around their eyebrows and paws. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.
Do Dachshunds need a house with a yard?
Dachshunds are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. Dachshunds fit best in homes where they can live indoors with their pet parents. They will act out and dig even more if left to their own devices full-time in your backyard. They are fairly easy to train.
Puppy Buyer's FAQ

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods
Pay with a credit card or another traceable method that offers buyer protection. Avoid wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards, which are difficult to recover.
Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.
Know What to Look For
A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
Know Your State's Laws
Some states have lemon laws; others rely on contract law. Know your rights before you buy.
