Meet Ganesha — a beautiful, balanced young standard poodle male with brains, personality, and just the right amount of chaos. Born in November 2024 and turning two years old this fall, he is a well built 25-inch, approx. 60 pound AKC-registered prospect with comprehensive health groundwork already completed. He has undergone a full genetic panel and preliminary OFA evaluations, with final OFA testing either fully covered or cost shared depending on whether he is placed in a guardian or co own home. Ganesha is a joyful, social poodle with a big personality—full of goofy zoomies, friendly with other dogs, and just as content playing with a buddy as he is entertaining himself. Once the excitement settles, he shifts easily into calm, home body mode, happily lounging around the house. He’s companion trained (but he is a sock stealer so beware!), lives comfortably in a home environment, and balances playful energy with a reliable off switch. He handles routine grooming well and responds nicely to commands indoors, while still working on outdoor impulse control, mostly because he’s convinced everyone he meets deserves enthusiastic kisses. Co-ownership is best suited for small or growing programs or anyone seeking mentorship and partnership. He’s ready to breed very soon, with age and health testing placing him at the start of ideal breeding maturity, and he may even be proven by the time he’s placed. This arrangement offers strong value for programs wanting to introduce new lines or maintain health tested structure and temperament, with a clear contract outlining retained stud rights and all expectations around ownership, scheduling, and responsibilities. A guardian home is a selective placement ideal for an experienced pet home that wants a high quality intact male while partnering with the breeder. The dog lives full time with the family, remaining intact and available for breeding as needed, with open communication, coordination, and adherence to contract terms and care expectations. Placement for either home type is limited to Florida, ideally between Tampa and Orlando, with families needing to live close enough for consistent breeding access. Ganesha will thrive in a home that understands intact male management, values structure and temperament, communicates reliably, and appreciates a dog with plenty of personality and comedic charm. Serious inquiries are welcome, and interested homes should share their location, experience with poodles and/or intact dogs, and the type of home or program they can offer. Fees by ownership type: Guardian Home - $500 (refundable when retired) Co-Own - $1,500 (will consider co-owner outside of FL if accessible to reproductive vet who ships semen) Outright with limited registration - $1,500 Outright w/ full rights - $3,000 *Note - all options require a contract.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Poodle - Standard Puppies

Are Standard Poodles a good breed to own?
France has been officially recognized as the Poodle’s country of origin, but the Poodle’s earlier ancestors came from central Asia. The German variety has probably influenced the modern breed most (‘Poodle’ is German for ‘splash’ or ‘puddle’). In 18th and 19th century Europe, the Poodle served a wide variety of purposes, including duck hunting, guiding, and later circus performing, from whence the modern grooming style likely arose. The Poodle became a popular pet for the French aristocracy, and in time was officially adopted as the national dog. Poodles were imported to America in the 20th century. They slowly rose in popularity and eventually became the country’s most popular dog. Famous Poodles include author John Steinbeck’s dog Charley, subject of the book ‘Travels with Charley: In Search of America’, and Weird Al’s Poodle Bela, who…uhm… sat on his head for the album cover of ‘Poodle Hat.’ Full-grown, they typically weigh 12-55 pounds and stand 10-15 inches tall.
Are Standard Poodles a good choice for families with kids?
Standard Poodles are generally excellent with children of all ages. The Standard Poodle gets along well with other animals, other dogs, and children. Standard Poodles are highly adaptable and make good watchdogs. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
What kind of exercise do Standard Poodles need?
The Standard Poodle requires substantial amounts of exercise. Standard Poodles require long walks and outdoor activities such as swimming or playing catch. The Standard Poodle is fond of retrieving, as it has origins as a hunting dog. Overall, their exercise needs are high.
Are Standard Poodles high-maintenance when it comes to grooming?
The Standard Poodle has a distinctive fine, frizzy, wooly coat similar in texture to sheep’s wool. Solid white is most common, but the coat may also be solid grey, brown, apricot, or black. There are three distinct grooming styles for show Poodles: puppy clip, continental clip, and English saddle clip. Grooming-wise, this breed is high-maintenance. Standard Poodles are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
Are Standard Poodles easy to train?
Standard Poodles are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
