About PENNY

All listing information is self-reported. Verify information before conducting business. Learn how to verify information before buying

Penny is a purebred (unregistered) beautiful short-haired chocolate brown miniature dachshund. She was born on March 25, 2026. I'm estimating she will stay on the medium side weighing around 12 to 16 lbs as an adult (she will be a "tween"). Penny is a happy, active, very playful pup. She likes to be held, but wants to play A LOT w/her siblings. Her parents are our beloved pets & located on our farm. Dad is a smooth-haired black & tan and Mom is a long-haired chocolate brown. I bought her parents from a local dachshund breeder. All my adult dachshunds are unrelated, healthy w/no health and/or mental issues. She gets along great w/our 7 rescue cats, a very large rottweiler, a rescue jack russell & the rest of our 4 wiener dogs. Best of all..she is potty pad trained! Her current diet consists of dry food (Orijen for puppies), raw food (lean ground chicken, beef & pork) & puppy formula (2x/day). The cost is $740 FIRM--serious inquiries only. You will need to provide her 1st exam & 1st shots (thus the low price) WITHIN A WEEK of your purchase. If your puppy is determined sick after their 1st checkup from a vet, I will guarantee a puppy swap or your money will be refunded in full. You must provide PROOF from a QUALIFIED vet for the guarantee. I will check w/my vet so he can verify your vet's credentials. I accept CASH ONLY (no exceptions). If you want to place a hold, a $370 cash deposit is required. If you prefer, we can schedule a meet & greet for you & your family. If you're on the road let us know & we will NOT sell your puppy. If you don't show up within the required travel time your puppy will go to the next person. Upon pickup at my home (we do NOT deliver and/or ship puppies!) the remaining balance will be due. I will provide you signed receipts w/my name & phone#. I've been selling miniature dachshunds for 4 years now & all my transactions have gone smoothly. Penny will go home with a treat canister full of toys, collar, leash, dry food (enough for 2 days), 2 potty pads, small flashlight that holds potty bags, dachshund key chain & other cute items. All items are new. You can contact us via phone or text at (606) 492-9216 ask for Mark. We are outside most of the day so don't hesitate to leave a voice message. Calls are answered in the order we receive them. Mark always checks his phone so the wait shouldn't be too long. Our schedule is flexible. Mark is a morning person, I'm a night owl. We are retired so we are very flexible. We are also very close to HWY 75, just 2 stops & you're at our home. Thank you for your interest. I look forward to giving Penny a happy loving home!

Frequently Asked Questions
About Miniature Dachshund Puppies

Is a Miniature Dachshund the right dog for me?
The Dachshund (pronounced dak-sund; also known as a ‘Teckel’) originated in Germany in the sixteenth century. They were bred and trained to chase down prey, such as a badger (Dachshund means ‘Badger Dog’) or fox, enter its burrow, kill it, and retrieve it. Full-grown, they typically weigh 9-11 pounds and stand 5-6 inches tall.
How do Miniature Dachshunds behave around young children?
Miniature Dachshunds are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. The Miniature Dachshund is somewhat reserved around strangers and may bark at them, but forms a strong bond with family. It can be too courageous around larger dogs. They're very vocal and bark quite a lot.
What activities do Miniature Dachshunds enjoy most?
The Miniature Dachshund needs a small amount of exercise; medium length walks or a fair amount of play in the yard should be sufficient. Miniature Dachshunds may tire easily so exercise should be spaced out throughout the day. Miniature Dachshunds can live comfortably in an apartment, but it is best if they get an occasional view of the wild. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
What should I expect with Miniature Dachshund shedding?
The smooth- and long-haired Miniature Dachshund should be brushed occasionally to remove dead hairs. Long-haired Miniature Dachshunds are prone to tangles, so they should be groomed more often. The coat of the wire-haired Miniature Dachshund should be plucked twice a year. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.
Can a Miniature Dachshund live in an apartment?
Miniature Dachshunds are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They are fairly easy to train.

Puppy Buyer's FAQ
See Full Guide Here

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods
Pay with a credit card or another traceable method that offers buyer protection. Avoid wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards, which are difficult to recover.
Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.
Know What to Look For
A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
Know Your State's Laws
Some states have lemon laws; others rely on contract law. Know your rights before you buy.
