Meet Ruth Ann— a beautiful 4-year-old Standard Poodle weighing 50 pounds of pure love and affection. Ruth is truly a sweetheart with a mellow, loving, and kind temperament who simply wants to be wherever her people are. Whether she’s relaxing beside you, going for a walk, or hanging out in the house, she is happiest spending time with those she loves.
Ruth walks well on a leash and absolutely enjoys going for walks. She will occasionally pull if she gets excited but responds very well to verbal correction. She rides great in the car, is crate trained, and housebroken, though like any dog, she may need some time to acclimate to the routine of a new home. She can be slightly vocal when first going into her crate, but settles down quickly afterward.
She is fantastic for grooming, bathing, and trimming, and our groomer comments on how well she does during appointments. Ruth has been around children ages 6 and older and does very well. She may knock over a small child on accident due to not realizing her size & she loves to lean on people lol! She also doesn't mind our cats (she may try to play with a cat but hasn't ever tried to harm ours.) She is great with other dogs and will play, but prefers dogs that aren't super hyper -- she isn't a fan of them being in her face all the time. She especially adores people who shower her with attention and affection. She loves being spoiled and pampered, and we fully expect her future family to dote on her just as much as we have.
Ruth is:
-Spayed
-Vaccinated
-Heartworm Tested Negative (on monthly preventative)
-Microchipped
Her new family will receive all veterinary records, microchip information, some of her current food, her collar and leash, and a few of her favorite things to help make her transition easier.
Please note that Ruth is being placed as a pet only and her AKC papers will not go with her.
We do not offer shipping but will meet locally. Serious inquiries only, please. Prospective owners should research the breed and understand that Standard Poodles require regular grooming and coat maintenance. She will be groomed again by our groomer before she moves on to her forever home.
We are looking for a loving, committed forever home that will cherish Ruth as the special girl she is. Please understand that we don't have to place her -- she has a forever home here with us if we can't find her another. ❤️

Are Standard Poodles a good breed to own?
France has been officially recognized as the Poodle’s country of origin, but the Poodle’s earlier ancestors came from central Asia. The German variety has probably influenced the modern breed most (‘Poodle’ is German for ‘splash’ or ‘puddle’). In 18th and 19th century Europe, the Poodle served a wide variety of purposes, including duck hunting, guiding, and later circus performing, from whence the modern grooming style likely arose. The Poodle became a popular pet for the French aristocracy, and in time was officially adopted as the national dog. Poodles were imported to America in the 20th century. They slowly rose in popularity and eventually became the country’s most popular dog. Famous Poodles include author John Steinbeck’s dog Charley, subject of the book ‘Travels with Charley: In Search of America’, and Weird Al’s Poodle Bela, who…uhm… sat on his head for the album cover of ‘Poodle Hat.’ Full-grown, they typically weigh 12-55 pounds and stand 10-15 inches tall.
Are Standard Poodles a good choice for families with kids?
Standard Poodles are generally excellent with children of all ages. The Standard Poodle gets along well with other animals, other dogs, and children. Standard Poodles are highly adaptable and make good watchdogs. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
What kind of exercise do Standard Poodles need?
The Standard Poodle requires substantial amounts of exercise. Standard Poodles require long walks and outdoor activities such as swimming or playing catch. The Standard Poodle is fond of retrieving, as it has origins as a hunting dog. Overall, their exercise needs are high.
Are Standard Poodles high-maintenance when it comes to grooming?
The Standard Poodle has a distinctive fine, frizzy, wooly coat similar in texture to sheep’s wool. Solid white is most common, but the coat may also be solid grey, brown, apricot, or black. There are three distinct grooming styles for show Poodles: puppy clip, continental clip, and English saddle clip. Grooming-wise, this breed is high-maintenance. Standard Poodles are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
Are Standard Poodles easy to train?
Standard Poodles are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
