I’m a chihuahua lover and raised only chihuahuas since I was eight years old, now a senior citizen. My first chihuahua was given by my grandpa (my paternal grandma’s brother) in the Philippines. We always wanted a chihuahua from him, however, we were always late in line for a litter. One day, dad and I visited grandpa and then there they were, a litter of puppies. Dad then asked grandpa if we could have one. Grandpa said yes. As dad started picking each puppy, grandpa said “no that’s been taken”. The fifth and last puppy that dad picked up grandpa finally said “Yes you may have that one”. So a week or so later, the puppy was ready to rehome and eating solid food. We named her Buda. Buda became our youngest sibling in the family. When we have our family picture taking, she always wanted to be included. We learned from grandpa that Buda was the only that survived amongst the litter. Having Buda in the family was like having a little sister to me. Buda and I were the only girls in the family’. That was how we started raising chihuahuas in our family. Chihuahuas will always have a special place in my heart and I will be a solid chihuahua mom.
