Behavior

The Deutsche Bracke is an avid hunter. They are intelligent and trainable but are owned primarily as hunting dogs. They aren’t meant to be a social family pet, even though they do get along well with their human owners. These dogs are great swimmers and sometimes run together in packs for certain hunting activities. True to their hound roots, they will call out loudly when they’ve spotted something interesting.

Coat

The Deutsche Bracke has a thick, short coat that is usually tricolor- a combination of white, black, and tan or red. Their coats are also dense, helping to protect them from the outdoor elements. They sometimes have white markings on their faces and chests. These dogs are average shedders and need occasional brushings to remove dead hairs.
