What our puppies do all day, especially during those first few weeks? The truth is... they sleep a lot! 😊 Growing is hard work. But as they begin to explore the world, we make sure every day includes little experiences that help them grow into confident, well-adjusted companions.
Since our puppies are raised right in our home, they're part of our everyday life. They hear all the normal household sounds, including the vacuum, and we also spend a little time each day introducing them to fireworks recordings. We start at a very low volume and gradually increase it as they become comfortable, helping them build confidence instead of fear.
They also come along with us for short car rides (even to the grocery store!), and they enjoy stroller walks where they can safely experience fresh air, birds singing, traffic in the distance, people walking by, and all the new sights and smells around them. They never touch the ground before they're fully vaccinated, but they still get to experience the world in a safe way.
Because they're part of our family, they naturally meet friends and family members as they visit, giving them lots of positive experiences with different people.
Yorkies require regular grooming throughout their lives, so we start preparing them early. Every day they're gently brushed, we handle their paws, touch around their face and muzzle, and get them used to all the little things that will make future grooming appointments less stressful.
Of course, they also spend plenty of time playing with their littermates, learning puppy manners, discovering new toys, exploring their surroundings, and simply being happy little puppies.
And somewhere in between all of that... you'll find us cleaning up poop, changing pee pads, doing laundry, giving cuddles, and wondering how such tiny puppies can make such a big mess! But we love it!. Watching them grow, gain confidence, and develop their own little personalities is one of the rewarding parts of caring for them.
What Your Puppy Goes Home With
When it's time for your puppy to join their new family, they'll go home with everything they need to help make the transition as smooth as possible, including:
- A complete veterinary wellness examination and health record showing they were checked from nose to tail and found healthy before going home.
- Age-appropriate deworming.
- Age-appropriate vaccinations.
- A microchip for added peace of mind.
- AKC Registration Application.
- A Pedigree Certificate.
- A blanket with Mom's and their littermates' scent to provide comfort during the first few days in their new home.
- A small bag of the food they're currently eating, so you can transition to your preferred food gradually if you choose.
We want every puppy to start this new chapter feeling safe, comfortable, and well cared for, and we want you to feel confident knowing they received the best possible start.

Frequently Asked Questions
About
Yorkshire Terrier
Puppies
How would you describe a Yorkshire Terrier?
The little Yorkshire Terrier thinks they're Great Danes, and like most terriers, are bold, brave, and independent. They are very intelligent and develop deep bonds with their owners. Full-grown, they typically weigh 4-7 pounds and stand 8-9 inches tall.
Do Yorkshire Terriers do well in a busy household?
Yorkshire Terriers are generally excellent with children of all ages. Because of their diminutive stature, Yorkies are well-suited to apartment life, but households with young children are not recommended unless carefully supervised. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
How do I keep a Yorkshire Terrier physically active?
The Yorkshire Terrier can have most of their exercise needs met through indoor play, but they prefer a daily walk or romp in a fenced-in yard. They don't need much exercise, so don't wear your Yorkie out too much, but they will need to play with their families throughout the day. Overall, their exercise needs are high.
Do Yorkshire Terriers shed a lot?
Yorkies' coats can be a bit high maintenance, especially for those with the long, silky coat. Long coats require professional maintenance, including adding oil and wrapping the coats in rice or tissue paper, along with weekly washings. The Yorkshire Terrier has no undercoat, and they do shed a small amount. Grooming-wise, this breed is high-maintenance. Yorkshire Terriers are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
Can a Yorkshire Terrier live in an apartment?
Yorkshire Terriers are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. Because of their diminutive stature, Yorkies are well-suited to apartment life, but households with young children are not recommended unless carefully supervised. They are fairly easy to train.
