Chaco is a Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix. He is a terrific dog! He is very smart, energetic, and trainable. He needs to go to a home that knows about hounds and plans to work with him. He already knows basic commands and is collar-trained. He loves people and kids. He needs an owner who wants to use him for hunting and lots of outdoor activities. I am not home enough to give him the life he deserves. He has not been exposed much to other dogs. His mother is from a line of hunting dogs in the area, and his father is a TWC mix. He is fixed, housebroken, and crate-trained. I think you could train him to do just about anything.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Treeing Walker Coonhound Puppies

What are Treeing Walker Coonhounds known for?
Treeing Walker Coonhounds are active, loving dogs, but their most impressive quality is their sense of smell. If they smell something interesting, they won’t stop until they find it. These family-friendly dogs love attention and companionship, but be prepared for them to dart when a new scent is near. Full-grown, they typically weigh 50-70 pounds and stand 20-27 inches tall.
Can Treeing Walker Coonhounds live with cats and other dogs?
Treeing Walker Coonhounds are generally excellent with children of all ages. The Treeing Walker Coonhound gets along well with children and other dogs, but they would rather chase cats than make friends. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
How much exercise does a Treeing Walker Coonhound need?
Treeing Walker Coonhounds have high energy and need at least a long walk or jog every day. They also love swimming, but their favorite activity is chasing. They can follow a scent at high speed, so be sure to keep your Treeing Walker leashed or in a fenced area to prevent them from running away. Overall, their exercise needs are very high.
Is a Treeing Walker Coonhound a good choice for someone with allergies?
Treeing Walker Coonhounds have a smooth, short-haired, glossy coat of bi-color (tan and white or black and white) or tri-color (tan, black, and white) fur. They’re very low maintenance when it comes to grooming; they only need to be brushed and bathed once in a while to stay clean and healthy. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.
What living situation works for a Treeing Walker Coonhound?
Treeing Walker Coonhounds are best suited for a rural property or home with a large yard. These pups have a lot of energy and are best suited for homes with large yards. They can live indoors or outdoors, but it’s important that they get enough human interaction. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.

Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
