Meet Champ, an 8-year-old AKC Golden Retriever who is looking for his forever home. Champ spent the first six years of his life on a horse ranch and loved to run in the fields. He then spent two years with us and has been a part of our kennel and our cornerstone breeding male, and now is happily retired and neutered.
Champ is a sweet, people-loving boy who truly enjoys life outdoors. Some of his favorite things are running around the yard, doing his famous zoomies, playing fetch, and sitting in the shade. He has a gentle, easygoing personality and would love nothing more than to spend his days enjoying the outdoors and being part of a family.
Champ will do best with an owner who appreciates his love of the outdoors and can provide him with daily exercise and plenty of outdoor time. A country or rural setting would be ideal for him, especially a home where he can safely enjoy a yard most of the day and spend time relaxing on the porch.
Champ has always lived with horses or other dogs in a barn/farm or kennel building setting. He has not lived in a house and has not had any obedience training or potty training. So his new family will need to be patient and willing to start with the basics. With consistency, kindness, and a little time, he can learn and will settle beautifully into his new routine.
He is friendly with both people and other dogs, although he tends to prefer calm companionship rather than a busy household. His thick Golden Retriever coat will also benefit from regular brushing.
