Frequently Asked Questions
About English Cocker Spaniel Puppies

What makes English Cocker Spaniels special?
English Cocker Spaniels make great dogs for bird hunters, as they love chasing and tracking anything that flies. They are slightly larger and have less hair than their close relative, the Cocker Spaniel, but have all of the same endearing personality traits. These funny dogs love people and get along well with children and almost any kind of animal that doesn’t have feathers. Full-grown, they typically weigh 26-34 pounds and stand 15-17 inches tall.
Are English Cocker Spaniels a good choice for families with kids?
English Cocker Spaniels are generally excellent with children of all ages. English Cocker Spaniels fit best in families that don’t mind sharing their house with a dog. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
Are English Cocker Spaniels high-energy dogs?
English Cocker Spaniels need to get about 30 minutes of exercise a day. They love hunting for birds, but will also be satisfied with a long walk or a swim at the beach. This breed is known to excel in agility competitions. Overall, their exercise needs are high.
Do English Cocker Spaniels need professional grooming?
English Cocker Spaniels have a medium-length coat that produces a moderate amount of shedding. Brushing their coat two or three times each week will help prevent hair from piling up around your house and remove any tangles in their fur. Their beautiful coats can be either black, brown, red and occasionally have reddish brown patches. Grooming-wise, this breed is moderate.
Are English Cocker Spaniels a good fit for apartment living?
English Cocker Spaniels are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. English Cocker Spaniels fit best in families that don’t mind sharing their house with a dog. They are fairly easy to train.

Puppy Buyer's FAQ
See Full Guide Here

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods
Pay with a credit card or another traceable method that offers buyer protection. Avoid wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards, which are difficult to recover.
Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.
Know What to Look For
A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
Know Your State's Laws
Some states have lemon laws; others rely on contract law. Know your rights before you buy.
