It breaks my heart to have to write this, but I am looking to rehome my almost 5-year-old Border Collie/Terrier mix, Dahlia. This is not a decision I'm making lightly. Dahlia is an amazing dog, and I love her with my whole heart. Unfortunately, she has developed reactivity toward other dogs, and with three other dogs in our home, including a senior, keeping everyone safely separated has become difficult. She has bitten another dog and caused an injury, and her reactivity can be worse around food and toys. Although she has lived peacefully with other dogs in the past, her behavior has changed over time. I don't feel it's fair to her to continue living in a situation where she has to be separated from the rest of the household. As heartbreaking as this decision is, I believe she deserves a home better suited to her needs, where she can feel secure and receive the attention she deserves. Dahlia is a medium-sized half Border Collie half Terrier mix with a goofy personality, lots of love to give, and a serious love for fetch! She will keep playing until you put the ball away, no matter how tired she is. 😂 She loves her people and can be a little shy around strangers at first, but she warms up with time. Once she bonds with you, she is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and cuddly. She's the type of dog who follows you everywhere around the house and stares directly into your soul. ❤️ She has a moderate-to-high energy level and enjoys being active, but she can also settle down at home. She knows some basic commands, including sit and down, although she could use a refresher on her training. She can be left home alone and generally does well, though she may occasionally have issues if she is not crated. My preference is a home where Dahlia can be the only dog. Because she has a history of biting another dog and causing an injury, her safety around other dogs needs to be taken seriously. Her new owner must be prepared to manage her environment carefully, particularly around food, toys, and other resources, and prevent situations that could lead to another incident. A securely fenced yard would be strongly preferred, along with someone who has the time to give her exercise, attention, and consistent training. She currently lives with cats, but they need supervision around her. I would prefer a home without young children, as her behavior around children is unknown. Older children are okay. She is fixed and up to date on shots, I have pictures of her veterinary paperwork available. She does have a chicken allergy, This can cause itchy, irritated skin flare-ups and has occasionally required veterinary care or medication. We have been feeding her Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon and Rice, as recommended by our vet, and she has been doing well on it without recent problems. I want to be upfront that Dahlia is not fully potty trained. She uses pee pads but often misses them and still has accidents. She will need someone with patience, time, and consistency to work on house-training with her. I'm sharing all of this because I want to be completely honest about what adopting Dahlia involves. I don't want her to end up in another home that isn't the right fit for her. She has challenges, but she also has so many wonderful qualities, and I truly hope to find someone who sees both sides of her and is willing to help her thrive. I am asking for a reasonable rehoming fee to help screen potential adopters and ensure this is a serious commitment. It is potentially negotiable. If you're interested ir have questions about Dahlia, please text or send me a private message. I will have some questions myself just to make sure you’re the right fit! If possible, I would love to stay in touch with her future family, receive occasional updates and pictures, and potentially arrange visits if everyone is comfortable with that. And I would prefer to drop her off directly to your house. Located 13413

About Cairn Terrier Puppies

What kind of dog is a Cairn Terrier?
Cairn Terriers’ personalities are ten times bigger than their ten-pound bodies. These pups are adoring and loyal, but they also get stubborn and aggressive if they don’t have a leader. Cairns need attention and exercise to stay healthy and happy, and if you aren’t doing what they want, they won’t be afraid to speak up. Full-grown, they typically weigh 13-14 pounds and stand 9-10 inches tall.
How do Cairn Terriers behave around young children?
Cairn Terriers are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. Cairn Terriers are loyal dogs that are great with families and are happy inside or outside. They love playing with kids but are sensitive to roughhousing, so keep an eye on them around small children. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
Do Cairn Terriers need a lot of physical activity?

How often should I brush a Cairn Terrier?
Cairn Terriers have a weatherproof coat with two layers. Their undercoats are soft and fluffy, but their overcoats are rough and wiry. This breed comes in almost any color except white. Frequently Asked Questions
About Border Collie Puppies

What's the personality of a Border Collie?
Border Collies are one of the smartest and most focused breeds around. These sweet dogs are happiest when they have an activity to do or job to work on, whether it’s playing fetch, digging a hole, or keeping an eye on you. Full-grown, they typically weigh 30-55 pounds and stand 18-22 inches tall.
Do Border Collies get along with kids?
Border Collies are generally okay with older children who know how to handle dogs. The Border Collie gets along well with other pets and children, but it may try to dominate dogs of the same sex. They should be socialized as puppies with small, non-canine pets so they can overcome their natural prey instincts. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
Are Border Collies couch potatoes or do they need a lot of exercise?
Border Collies need high-energy owners to satisfy their appetite for exercise and activity. If they get bored or restless, they’re known to act out. The best way to keep Border Collies active is to give them work to do, whether it’s an exercise like running or a game like Frisbee. Overall, their exercise needs are very high.
What should I expect with Border Collie shedding?
Border Collies have thick, shiny undercoats and colorful outer coats that come in several colors, including solid, bicolor, tricolor, merle (lighter coat with speckled patches), or sable (light undercoat with black-tipped hairs). These dogs are average shedders that don’t need much grooming. Brush them once or twice a week to keep their coats clean, and only bathe them when needed. Grooming-wise, this breed is moderate.
How much space does a Border Collie need?
Border Collies are best suited for a home with a yard, though they can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise. They’re adaptable to just about any living setting, so as long as they get enough exercise and attention, they will be happy spending time indoors, outdoors, in warm climates, or cooler places. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
