. Emmett Gender: Male $250 Age: 6 (will be 7 in June) Weight: roughly 25 lbs If I were to describe Emmett in one word it would be: gentlemanly. He is a handsome AKC brown merle parti American Cocker Spaniel with an appearance reminiscent of fudge swirl ice cream and a personality that is just as sweet. This soft boy can come off as a little timid at first (easily mistaken for being afraid) but he is actually very comfortable in his own fur. In fact, he is the epitome of manners when it comes to asking for affection. For he will not jump up or even beg you to pet him, just look at you with shy puppy-dog-eyes when you take your hand away and give you a small, inviting wag of his tail as he asks for more. Emmett is a dog of refined taste. He loves a good lap or two around a yard, his favorite ball, and prefers only the tastiest of dog treats to any silly old vegetables or special “human” foods. He has never met a dog he didn’t like, but would thrive best with one other more independent furry companion. If they are too excitable, he may not know what to do with himself. Above all else, he keeps his crate nice and clean. While Emmett is generally very quiet by nature, he IS a cultured sort of dog, and will occasionally sing with his beautiful soprano voice if the opportunity comes up. Because he is a more refined and mature individual, he prefers the company of one or two adults, but would be willing to take audiences with older children. While he is not a super snuggly lapdog at present, Emmett would love nothing more than to sit quietly by a fireplace or on a front porch with his favorite humans and bask in the shared space between them. Emmett is familiar with leashes, but as I stated above, he does love a good run when he can. So, he may need a little time to fall into your walking routine. Luckily, he is a highly intelligent boy and picks up on new routines quickly, so that should be no issue at all. Emmet loves to keep a tidy space. This means he is not prone to accidents. Yet, he will need time to adjust to his new home and figure out the routine, so he may have one or two until he knows exactly what you’d like him to do. Overall, this charming gentleman is a well-mannered and pleasant little darling who is just looking for his retirement home where he can grow old and spend his days running, playing, and getting lots of love. Emmett has been tested through Embark and is still intact although he is being placed as a pet only. and not for breeding. He is not interested in breeding.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Cocker Spaniel Puppies

What is a Cocker Spaniel like?
Cocker Spaniels are equally at home chasing birds in the field or playing fetch in your living room. They take joy in almost everything they do and are always sniffing around for the next thing to get into. It’s important to work with a reputable breeder, but once you find the right one, this breed will capture your heart! Full-grown, they typically weigh 20-30 pounds and stand 13-15 inches tall.
Are Cocker Spaniels a good choice for families with kids?
Cocker Spaniels are generally excellent with children of all ages. It’s important that Cocker Spaniels are kept as inside dogs. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
How much exercise does a Cocker Spaniel need?
Cocker Spaniels don’t need quite as much exercise as many other sporting dogs, but they still require daily playtime. They have a high prey drive, so if given the opportunity to hunt, they will do so. Cocker Spaniels enjoy activities like playing fetch, swimming, sniffing for trouble, and of course, cuddling. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
How much grooming does a Cocker Spaniel need?
Cocker Spaniels have a soft, wavy coat that you can keep styled in one of two ways. The puppy cut is a shorter coat length that you’ll need to brush and trim about every two weeks. The famous, flowing show-coats take even more effort, including weekly bathing, brushing, and trimming. Grooming-wise, this breed is fairly high-maintenance.
How much space does a Cocker Spaniel need?
Cocker Spaniels are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. It’s important that Cocker Spaniels are kept as inside dogs. The size of your house or yard is less important, and they can live just fine in almost any situation provided they get their exercise. They are fairly easy to train.

Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods

Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.

A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
