Loving Home Needed for Bonded Pair, Grace (Pepper1Girl2) & Oscar! Currently located with their Owner in Northern Virginia.
We are helping the owner of one of our past Silverside pups find the perfect soft landing for her and her bonded best friend. Grace and Oscar are a wonderful pair of 5-year-old Australian Shepherds who have been raised together since puppyhood and must be placed together. Their owner is handling the placement process directly, but we want to help this special duo find the wonderful home they deserve!
MEET GRACE (Silverside's PEPPER1GIRL2)
Grace is one of our very own Silverside girls! She is a stunning Black Tri Standard Aussie (born 10/4/2020) with a docked tail, striking blue eyes, and ASDR registration.

Personality: Grace is the ultimate lap dog trapped in a working breed's body. While she enjoys her daily walks, her absolute favorite place in the world is curled up right on your lap.
Quirks: Grace has strong herding instincts that kick in around quick-moving toddlers, and she takes her job as a protective alert barker seriously (letting you know about front door noises or people in hats).
Health: She requires a specific prescription food (~$50/month) to prevent bladder stones, but has been perfectly healthy and issue-free since making the switch.
MEET OSCAR (not from Silverside)
Oscar is a sweet, easygoing 5-year-old red merle boy who thrives on outdoor activity.
Personality: He makes a fantastic running or walking buddy and settles into a loose leash once he burns off his initial excitement. Inside the house, he’s calm, sleeps peacefully in his own bed, and is fine being left alone for 5 to 6 hours.
Quirks: He will greet you with an adorable "happy side-jump" and has a funny little soft spot for small, fluffy white dogs. He also might try to investigate unattended food on the counter!
THEIR IDEAL HOME
Oscar and Grace will thrive in a single-family home with a yard where they can safely run and wrestle together. Because of Grace's herding instincts and alert nature, they require an adult-only home or a family with older teenagers. Both dogs are fully house-trained, well-mannered, and ready to bring so much love to their new family.
REHOMING DETAILS & HOW TO APPLY
To ensure they transition beautifully into your routine, their adoption includes free access to their existing professional training subscription. The owner is asking for a $150 rehoming fee to ensure a serious commitment, which can be paid as a direct, tax-deductible donation to an Aussie rescue like ARMA or NS4AR (just show the donation receipt!).
If you have room in your heart and home for Grace and Oscar, please apply at silversideaussies.com/inquiry and note that you are looking at this pair. We will forward your information directly to their owners!

What are Australian Shepherds known for?
Australian Shepherds are a beautiful breed with merle coats, high energy, and and an obsession with being close to their families. These dogs are wonderful family companions, but be prepared to keep them active and occupied to avoid having a sad, destructive Aussie. Full-grown, they typically weigh 40-65 pounds and stand 18-23 inches tall.
Do Australian Shepherds do well in a busy household?
Australian Shepherds are generally excellent with children of all ages. Australian Shepherds are great companion for kids and other pets, especially if they’re socialized as puppies. These dogs can be happy in warm or cool climates, but they need plenty of space to run and play and should have their primary living space indoors. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
Do Australian Shepherds need a lot of physical activity?
Aussies need a lot of high-energy activities and mental stimulation to keep them happy. They’re the perfect exercise buddies, especially for families that like being outdoors. Take your Australian Shepherd for a run, hike, or a long play session in a big backyard to keep their hearts soaring and their minds sharp. Overall, their exercise needs are very high.
Are Australian Shepherds high-maintenance when it comes to grooming?
The Australian Shepherd has a dense undercoat and outer coat with medium to long hair that’s straight or slightly wavy. Aussies’ fur is short and soft on their head and legs, with a thick mane around the neck. These dogs can be black, red, red merle (dark patches on a light background), or blue merle, and some may have white markings or tan points too. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.
Do Australian Shepherds need a big yard?
Australian Shepherds are best suited for a home with a yard, though they can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise. These dogs can be happy in warm or cool climates, but they need plenty of space to run and play and should have their primary living space indoors. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
Puppy Buyer's FAQ
See Full Guide Here
Visit or Video Call the Breeder
Visit in person if possible, or request a live video call to meet the puppy, see its living conditions, and meet the mom. Ask to see where the dogs eat, sleep, and play.
Get a Vet Exam Immediately
Have a vet examine the puppy within two days of bringing it home, even if it seems healthy.
Request Complete Health Records
Ask for vaccination records, deworming history, and vet exam results. For purebreds, ask for parent health clearances.
Get Everything in Writing
Written contract with health guarantees, return/refund policy, and spay/neuter terms. Verbal promises are unenforceable.
Use Secure Payment Methods
Pay with a credit card or another traceable method that offers buyer protection. Avoid wire transfers, crypto, or gift cards, which are difficult to recover.
Verify Breeder Credentials
Check USDA license, state breeder license, breed club memberships, and reviews. Ask for buyer references.
Know What to Look For
A trustworthy breeder welcomes visits, specializes in one or two breeds, prices fairly, and gives you time to decide without pressure.
Know Your State's Laws
Some states have lemon laws; others rely on contract law. Know your rights before you buy.
