The English Shepherd is a highly intelligent breed who keeps to the rules. They love to be in charge and will show their bossy side when they think things are amiss. However, they have a sweet temperament and are faithful family companions. Full-grown, they typically weigh 40-60 pounds and stand 18-23 inches tall.

English Shepherds are generally good with kids, especially when raised together. The English Shepherd is a natural family pet and can live in a variety of households. They adapt easily to working on the farm, as well as being the fun time family dog. They're relatively quiet and don't bark much.

Being willing and able to adapt to a variety of activity levels is a plus to owning an English Shepherd. They need just a moderate amount of daily exercise, such as walking or jogging, but are also content to hang out on the sofa with you. They do love to play outside, being bred for work, so Frisbee, flyball, and fetch are favorite activities for this fun-loving friend. Overall, their exercise needs are very high.

The English Shepherd's coat is medium length and can be straight, wavy, or curly. Their coats are smooth and can be a mix of brown, tan, black, white, and occasionally brindle. Even with these fluffy coats, their care is minimal; they need weekly brushing and just the occasional bath when necessary to keep them clean and happy. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.

English Shepherds are best suited for a home with a yard, though they can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise. The English Shepherd is a natural family pet and can live in a variety of households. They are fairly easy to train.

There are three distinct grooming styles for show Poodles: puppy clip, continental clip, and English saddle clip. Grooming-wise, this breed is fairly high-maintenance. Miniature Poodles are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.

Miniature Poodles are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
