⛰️ Rocky | Temperament Evaluation
Black Collar • Male • F1B Standard Goldendoodle
Maeve × Hudson | American Classics Litter
Born July 3, 2026
Estimated Adult Weight: Around 50 lbs
🧬 A Note About Rocky's DNA Test
Rocky's DNA sample did not fail or return an abnormal result. The laboratory simply did not receive enough usable information from his sample to provide his complete results, so we will be ordering another test.
Rocky is one of the smallest puppies in the litter, currently tracking as approximately the second smallest, and based on his size and our experience, we anticipate him maturing around the 50-pound range.
Both of Rocky's parents have DNA testing, and we also have results from his littermates, which gives us additional information about this pairing while we wait for Rocky's individual retest.
If Rocky is chosen before his new results are available, we will either provide his family with the results afterward or arrange for the replacement test to be completed with his new family.
Now, onto Rocky himself, because this boy gave us a LOT to like! ❤️
Human Assertiveness: Medium–High
Rocky was comfortable approaching and interacting with his tester. He's friendly and confident without appearing overly dependent.
Confidence: HIGH
Very little shakes Rocky. He entered this unfamiliar environment with a wonderful level of confidence and handled himself extremely well.
Motivation: HIGH
Rocky's attitude was basically: "Yes! I'd love to do what you say!" 😂
He wants to engage with people and showed a wonderful willingness to participate. That combination of confidence, motivation, and human focus could make him especially enjoyable to train.
Nerve Strength & Resilience: Medium–High
Rocky handled challenges well and showed a nice ability to recover when something caught him off guard.
Touch Tolerance: HIGH ❤️
Rocky was very comfortable being handled. His attitude seemed to be, "Okay, I'll hang out here. Is this what you want to do?" He accepted touch and physical interaction beautifully.
Energy: Medium–High
Rocky has plenty of playful energy without presenting as an extreme-energy puppy.
Sound Sensitivity: Medium
At first glance, Rocky didn't appear particularly bothered by unexpected sound. However, afterward his energy increased and his play became more excited. We believe that may have been his way of processing the stress, so we scored his sensitivity as medium.
Sight Sensitivity: Medium
Unexpected visual stimulation bothered him initially, but then he decided he was okay. His ability to move forward supports the resilience we saw throughout his test.
Prey Drive: HIGH
Rocky showed a strong interest in movement and prey-type activities. Appropriate chase, retrieving, searching, and interactive games may be great outlets for him.
❤️ Human Focus: HIGH
Rocky really likes PEOPLE.
He eventually noticed and interacted with the "dog" in our mirror test, but he didn't stay there long. He repeatedly returned to the tester looking for more human interaction and attention.
Dog Friendliness: Neutral–Assertive
Rocky appears to genuinely enjoy other dogs and could happily have a canine friend. However, he doesn't seem to need another dog in order to feel secure.
We could see him thriving with another compatible dog OR being perfectly content as someone's only dog.
❤️ Tenderhearted: Moderate–High
Rocky was affected by the tester's emotions. Rather than completely falling apart with her, his response felt more like:
"Hey...are you okay?" ❤️
He notices emotional changes in his people and cares about what's happening around him.
And Rocky gets a good boy! for using the potty box during his evaluation. 🎉
🏡 Overall Impression
Rocky is a confident, motivated, affectionate, playful, people-focused boy with nice resilience and a tender side.
He wants to participate. He wants human connection. He enjoys dogs without appearing dependent on them, and very little seemed to truly shake his confidence.
His overall attitude throughout testing felt wonderfully cooperative:
"What are we doing? Okay, I'm in!"
Rocky could fit beautifully into many different family structures, and we think his combination of confidence, trainability, affection, and enthusiasm for his people has the potential to make him an absolutely wonderful companion. ⛰️🐾❤️

Puppies
What are Goldendoodles known for?
Goldendoodles are a mix of two of the most affectionate, friendly breeds: Golden Retrievers and Poodles. They adore being around people and crave companionship. Their personalities and coats range depending on their genes, but you can count on these cute canines to be your best friend to the end. Full-grown, they typically weigh 50-90 pounds and stand 20-24 inches tall.
Are Goldendoodles a good choice for families with kids?
Goldendoodles are generally excellent with children of all ages. Goldendoodles are the quintessential family dog. They’re eager to please and get along well with children, other animals, and strangers. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
How active are Goldendoodles on a daily basis?
The Goldendoodle requires an average amount of exercise. Most enjoy swimming, daily walks, and playtime. With Golden Retriever in their genes, these dogs do well at games that involve retrieving, like fetch and Frisbee. Overall, their exercise needs are high.
How much brushing and bathing does a Goldendoodle need?
The Goldendoodle’s coat is a cross between the Golden Retriever and Poodle coat, having fine hair that can be curly or straight. Depending on the Poodle influence, Goldendoodles can come in a wide variety of colors, including white, tan, chocolate, black, red, silver, or a mix. They may shed very little or a bit more based on whether their Poodle side or Golden Retriever side is stronger. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance. Goldendoodles are considered hypoallergenic, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
How much space does a Goldendoodle need?
Goldendoodles are best suited for a house with a good-sized yard. These pups are social and love being around people, so they do best with families that are home a lot. Because of their craving for companionship, Goldendoodles should always live inside and never been banned to the backyard. They are fairly easy to train.
