🧡 PERSONALITY & EVERYDAY LIFE
Sienna isn't typically the first dog to rush over demanding attention, and she's perfectly content not being the center of every moment. She's observant, takes her time getting acquainted, and has a naturally independent side that makes her very much her own girl.
She's always enjoyed the company of other dogs and is what we lovingly call a dog's dog. She speaks their language effortlessly, enjoys their companionship, and naturally finds her place within the pack. She's playful without being pushy, naturally submissive with her canine companions, and often chooses to wait her turn rather than compete for attention.
Sienna also enjoys getting out and experiencing the world! She walks nicely on leash and has joined us for walks, rollerblading and skateboard outings, visits to Spirit Halloween, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, and plenty of other everyday adventures. She's familiar with the slatmill and enjoys being included in our activities.
One of the sweetest things we've watched develop is her affectionate side. While she's traditionally been more independent, she's recently started leaning into being collared and petted, seeking out more attention, and even making herself comfortable on the couch. We love seeing her discover that a little extra attention isn't so bad after all!
Sienna is house trained, crate trained, and familiar with using a doggie door. She's a well-mannered girl who appreciates routine, canine companionship, and opportunities to explore.
**KNOWN FOR:**
- Beautiful, balanced structure & elegant movement
- Natural athleticism & champion pedigree
- Wonderful canine social skills
- Playful but easygoing personality
- Excellent manners within the pack
🌟 HOW SIENNA BECAME PART OF OUR FAMILY
When we discovered Jasmine and Sienna's family, we were immediately impressed. The pedigree was exceptional, the health testing was everything we hoped to find, and the structure was beautiful. Originally, we thought we'd be bringing home one outstanding female. Instead, we found two!
While Jasmine and Sienna share the same incredible pedigree, their personalities are wonderfully different. Jasmine is the adaptable all-around family girl, while Sienna brings a more independent, thoughtful presence to our home. Both have their own special qualities, and we're grateful that Sienna became part of our family.
🌟 BEAUTY THAT'S BUILT TO WORK
One of the first things people notice about Sienna is the way she carries herself. She naturally holds her head high, moves with effortless balance, and has the kind of structure that immediately catches your eye. She's elegant without trying to be and athletic without looking busy.
Her pedigree includes numerous AKC Champions, CHIC-certified dogs, and proven performance lines. Like her sister Jasmine, both of Sienna's parents earned AKC Trick Dog titles. Her balanced structure, natural athleticism, and comprehensive health testing reflect the qualities we value in the Australian Shepherd.
🏡 A NEW CHAPTER FOR SIENNA
Sometimes life takes us in a different direction than we originally imagined, and that's okay. After more than a year as part of our family, we've made the decision that Sienna's future will be as someone's cherished companion rather than continuing in our breeding program.
Sienna has experienced four irregular heat cycles, and despite careful monitoring of her progesterone levels, her results have never shown the hormonal progression expected for ovulation. After much consideration, we've decided not to pursue breeding with her.
This decision doesn't change how much we love or value Sienna. She's been an important part of our family, and finding her the right home is something we're approaching with just as much thought and care as every other decision we've made for her.
🏡 HER IDEAL HOME
We envision Sienna thriving in an active home with adults or older children who enjoy including their dog in everyday life and adventures. She isn't a dog who needs to be sheltered from the world, but she does appreciate having time to observe, become comfortable, and build trust at her own pace.
Sienna seems to find confidence in the companionship of other dogs, and we believe she'd particularly enjoy having a friendly, well-mannered canine companion in her next home. At the same time, we'd love for her to develop that close, special bond with her own person. She's beginning to seek out more affection, and we think there's still so much of her personality waiting to unfold with the right family.
We aren't looking for someone to change Sienna. We're looking for someone who appreciates her individuality, respects her boundaries, and enjoys building a relationship naturally.
We hope her next chapter includes plenty of adventures, a comfortable place on the couch, canine companionship, and all the individual attention she deserves.
🧡 A LITTLE MORE ABOUT OUR RETIRED DOG PLACEMENTS
Our dogs are family, and deciding to place one in a new home is never something we take lightly. While some of our Aussies will remain with us for their entire lives, others may benefit from a home where they can enjoy more individual attention and companionship than we're able to provide within our program.
We're very particular about where our dogs go, and Sienna's placement will be no exception. We strongly prefer families within a reasonable driving distance of South Hill, Virginia. Should circumstances ever change and Sienna need to return to us, we want to be able to personally come get her without hesitation.
We ask prospective families to visit us in South Hill to spend time with Sienna and get to know her. Depending on how introductions go, additional visits may be welcome. We want everyone to feel comfortable before making a decision.
We'd also genuinely appreciate occasional updates, photos, and hearing about her adventures. Rehoming doesn't mean we'll stop loving her or being interested in her life. Sienna will always hold a special place in our family.
Most importantly, if her placement ever doesn't work out for any reason, she must return to Silverside rather than being sold, surrendered, or privately rehomed. We will always be here for her, regardless of how much time has passed.
Our goal isn't simply to find Sienna another home. It's to find her a family who will love her, include her in their lives, and give her the individual attention she deserves.
🏡 REHOMING FEE & PLACEMENT: $2,000**
Sienna is being placed exclusively as a companion and will not be placed with breeding rights. Spaying is not a condition of her placement, and she may remain intact under the terms of her written Companion Placement & Co-Ownership Agreement.
Her placement will include AKC co-ownership with Silverside Aussies. The agreement outlines her companion-only status, breeding restrictions, ownership arrangements, and return-to-Silverside provision. Our intention is to protect Sienna's future while allowing her new family to enjoy everything that comes with having her as their companion.
Her new family will be responsible for her everyday care, routine veterinary expenses, and well-being. We want her to have a wonderful life without unnecessary complications or interference in her family's everyday relationship with her.
🧡 INTERESTED IN SIENNA?
We're looking for a carefully matched home for Sienna, and all interested families will begin by completing a Silverside Inquiry. We'd love to learn about your household, lifestyle, experience with dogs, and what you're looking for in a companion before arranging introductions. silversideaussies.com/inquiry
Prospective families should be prepared to meet Sienna in person in South Hill, Virginia. There is no deposit required before meeting her. Our priority is finding the right fit, and we want everyone, including Sienna, to have the opportunity to get acquainted before making a commitment.
If the meet and greet goes well and everyone feels comfortable moving forward, Sienna can go home that same day. If additional time is needed to prepare for her arrival, we're happy to hold her for up to 30 days with a $500 nonrefundable deposit applied toward her rehoming fee.
We've loved having Sienna as part of our family, and we're excited about the possibility of her having a person or family of her very own. We think she's going to make someone a very special companion. 🧡

What are Australian Shepherds known for?
Australian Shepherds are a beautiful breed with merle coats, high energy, and and an obsession with being close to their families. These dogs are wonderful family companions, but be prepared to keep them active and occupied to avoid having a sad, destructive Aussie. Full-grown, they typically weigh 40-65 pounds and stand 18-23 inches tall.
Do Australian Shepherds do well in a busy household?
Australian Shepherds are generally excellent with children of all ages. Australian Shepherds are great companion for kids and other pets, especially if they’re socialized as puppies. These dogs can be happy in warm or cool climates, but they need plenty of space to run and play and should have their primary living space indoors. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.
Do Australian Shepherds need a lot of physical activity?
Aussies need a lot of high-energy activities and mental stimulation to keep them happy. They’re the perfect exercise buddies, especially for families that like being outdoors. Take your Australian Shepherd for a run, hike, or a long play session in a big backyard to keep their hearts soaring and their minds sharp. Overall, their exercise needs are very high.
Are Australian Shepherds high-maintenance when it comes to grooming?
The Australian Shepherd has a dense undercoat and outer coat with medium to long hair that’s straight or slightly wavy. Aussies’ fur is short and soft on their head and legs, with a thick mane around the neck. These dogs can be black, red, red merle (dark patches on a light background), or blue merle, and some may have white markings or tan points too. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.
Do Australian Shepherds need a big yard?
Australian Shepherds are best suited for a home with a yard, though they can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise. These dogs can be happy in warm or cool climates, but they need plenty of space to run and play and should have their primary living space indoors. They are highly trainable and eager to learn.
