About Susie
All listing information is self-reported. Verify information before conducting business. Learn how to verify information before buying
Susie is a very sweet and adventurous little girl with a wonderful balance of independence and affection. She loves cuddling with her people but is equally happy relaxing on a dog bed with a favorite chew bone. Susie is confident, adaptable, and should thrive in a variety of home environments.
Our puppies are raised right in our home, directly in our living room, so they are exposed to everyday household sights, sounds, and routines from the very beginning. They are socialized with our 1-year-old son and are handled daily. They are also introduced to cats, horses, sheep, and other dogs of various ages and sizes to help them grow into confident, well-rounded companions.
We begin litter box training around 3 weeks of age, introduce the doggie door with access to the yard at 5 weeks of age, and start crate training at 6 weeks of age. Puppies are dewormed every 2 weeks beginning at 2 weeks old, and vaccinations are administered every 2–3 weeks starting at 6 weeks of age.
Every puppy is microchipped with Fi Nano and receives a veterinary health exam prior to pickup. If we have any concerns regarding a puppy’s health, buyers are informed before pickup so they can make an educated decision. Each puppy comes with a 3-year health guarantee and 30 days of free pet insurance through Trupanion.
Both parents have been health tested and are clear for Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG), Mucopolysaccharidosis I (MPS I), Thrombopathia, and the Embark Breed Panel.
The listed price is for AKC limited registration with a spay/neuter agreement.
Ground transport is available for an additional $525 through a licensed and insured transport company.
A non-refundable deposit of $250 will reserve the puppy of your choosing, with the remaining balance due at pickup. Puppies are eligible to begin going home on June 30th.

About
Basset Hound
Puppies
Is a Basset Hound the right dog for me?
Basset Hounds look bummed on the outside, but have a wonderfully clever personality on the inside. They use their adorable, pouty looks to get away with whatever they want and will make you laugh daily with their outrageous sense of humor. Basset Hounds love people and other animals, so be prepared to spend lots of time together. Full-grown, they typically weigh 40-65 pounds and stand 12-15 inches tall.
Are Basset Hounds friendly with strangers and kids?
Basset Hounds are generally excellent with children of all ages. If you don’t want a dog with an incredibly loud voice howling constantly, the Basset Hound need to be in a situation they can live inside with you. They love people, other dogs, cats, and children alike. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
Are Basset Hounds high-energy dogs?
Basset Hounds like to go on long walks, but their favorite activity is following their nose wherever it may take them. Basset Hounds have an incredibly strong sense of smell, which makes them great competitors in tracking sports. They were born to hunt for as long as you’ll let them, so you generally won’t ever entirely wear them out. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
What should I expect with Basset Hound shedding?
Although the Basset Hound’s coat is very short, it does require daily brushing. Their hair sheds heavily, and if you want to reduce the amount you find around your house, these daily brushings will help. Some people think the Basset Hound’s oily coat gives off a bad smell, but that can be helped with regular baths. Grooming-wise, this breed is moderate.
What kind of home is best for a Basset Hound?
Basset Hounds are best suited for a house with a good-sized yard. If you don’t want a dog with an incredibly loud voice howling constantly, the Basset Hound need to be in a situation they can live inside with you. They also love to play outside and will follow any interesting scents they come across, so a home with a big backyard or a farmhouse is a good bet for a happy Basset Hound. They are moderately trainable with consistent effort.
