Tibetan Spaniels are generally excellent with children of all ages. Tibetan Spaniels are people-loving pups that get along with kids and other animals, particularly dogs. They may need training and socialization to teach them right from wrong, but once they know the drill, they should be well-behaved members of the family. They're moderate barkers — they'll alert you when something's up but aren't excessive.

Tibetan Spaniels are fairly active dogs, but they don’t need tons of exercise to be happy. They enjoy a few walks each day, but with such short legs, they don’t make the best running buddies. These dogs also love playing sports and showing off. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.

The Tibetan Spaniel has a double coat of long, silky hair that’s usually golden in color. Even though they have long hair, these dogs are easy to groom. They don’t need trimming or professional grooming; a thorough brushing at home each week will keep their fur in good shape. Grooming-wise, this breed is low-maintenance.

Tibetan Spaniels are best suited for apartments and smaller homes. Tibetan Spaniels crave companionship, so they should primarily live indoors with people that are comfortable giving them plenty of love and attention. They are moderately trainable with consistent effort.
